We've heard from Ed of Cassino with some news on the band's current progress.
We have started the mixing process for the new album. The first half (6 songs) will be out around Christmas time via iTunes and will be available for purchase as we head back into the studio to finish recording the 2nd half of the album at which point we will be doing a vinyl pressing of the full length album. You can expect somewhat of a departure from the Kingprince album in terms of dynamics as some of these new songs have a more straight forward approach. We recorded way more electric guitars and drums this time as well. Needless to say, we really like how these songs have come together and are excited...
Cassino released an update on new music on their Facebook. In the comments they say that new music should be released by the end of the year.
Hello all…just thought I would update you on what’s going on in our world. Not a whole lot of shows planned for this summer, but we are going to work on actually finishing up some recorded music. We decided to split this record up into two 6 song E.P.’s, instead of a full length album. We figure we could get the music out a little faster this way. We will eventually put both E.P.’s on a full length vinyl record, but that is later on down the road. Thank you all for the continued support, even though we are not as active as we would like to be.
Cassino's Kingprince is up for preorder in a 2xLP format containing bonus tracks from the band's B-side collection, The Weight of Bother. The pressing is limited to 100 black vinyl and 100 clear vinyl with blue ink and all jackets are hand-screened. The bundle option includes both variants and a free copy of Hailey, It Happens' Aurora. The first 50 orders will receive a a lifetime discount for releases from the label.
Cassino started the mixing process for a 6 song EP that will feature demo and alternate unreleased versions of previously released songs. It will only be sold digitally, and should be online by May. It will feature 2 different versions of the song “Cannonball” (instrumental and demo/acoustic), a full band version of “Tin Man’s Throne”, an alternate take on “Maddie Bloom,” "Conrad" (a Jets to Brazil cover) and a Sounds of Salvation-era version of “The River”. More details forthcoming.
Update: The chat is now over. Big ups to Nick for taking the time out to chat with us and letting everyone pick his brain. If you haven't already, pick up Cassino's album here.
Nick Torres of Cassino and Northstar fame will be chatting in this thread at approximately 8 PM under the name NicholasRobert. Come on in and discuss Sounds of Salvation or anything else that comes to mind.
Cassino have re-recorded "The Gin War" by themselves and posted it on their myspace. About the new version, the Nick says, "if anyone is curious about what direction our new album will take, it will be similar."
