Emperor X recently underwent treatment for, and has survived, testicular cancer.
I had testicular cancer this summer. Surgery and chemo treatment sucked. It worked flawlessly. Now i don't have cancer anymore. Posting this feels like tearing off a band aid. I tend to hide worrisome facts about myself because I hate it when people worry about me. But now that I survived cancer (?!? that still feels insane to type) I have the elated survivor's burden to boost awareness, so it's time to let you know what's up. Women and men friends of mine, today, right now, for me, no matter where you are, I urge you: gently and thoroughly prod all of your spongy dangly self-examinable tissue with no...

Antony has posted a message on Facebook after the Pope reportedly met with Kim Davis (ugh) last week.
Apparently Pope Francis was working behind the scenes to undermine gay rights in America. How shameful and pathetic of him. I have been so impressed with his approach to climate and his call to end the death penalty in the US. But for him to make insidious comments about how the "traditional family" is under threat (presumably from gay marriage) and then to secretly meet that poor misguided cretin Kim Davis... I am glad that he is mobilizing his flock to care about nature, but i would still prefer that they would all just go to their heaven now and leave the rest of humanity and nature...

Viet Cong will finally change their name.
Art and music are about creative expression. However, our band name is not our cause, and we are not going to fight for it. This is not what our band is about. There are many individuals more eloquent than us who have recently had a lot to say about the topic of the name and our appropriation of the name Viet Cong. For more insights into the arguments we encourage you to read some of these. We are a band who want to make music and play our music for our fans. We are not here to cause pain or remind people of atrocities of the past.

The truth is, we’ve been planning to change the band name for the next record for months; it has not been an...

The band Speedy Ortiz have put together a flyer they're putting up at shows to create a safe space for concert goers.
We're back on the road today, but we're bringing something new with us: (574) 404-SAFE, our help hotline you can text if you are being harassed or feel unsafe at a Speedy Ortiz show.Texts will go to us and we will work with venue security to try and get you out of harm's way. It's a new system we're trying out and we're sure it will require tweaks along the way, but we hope in the long run it can make our shows safer and more fun for everyone.

The Wedding released a statement regarding their current status as a band after over a year of being off of the road.
No, we didn't break up. We just went on an unplanned indefinite hiatus (to put it in "band" terms). For those that followed the band since the beginning you know we were road dogs. 200+ shows a year for nearly a decade. We were almost never home. And we liked it that way. We've all learned to love being home, too. It's been more of a struggle to adjust for some than others but all in all this is a good season. Will we play shows again? Maybe. Will we make another record? Maybe. What are the chances? To be honest, I don't think any of us have any idea. Touring and records...

Tampa, Floridian band Ovid's Withering have broken up.
Regretfully, I am quitting Ovid's Withering. Recently, we have discovered inexcusable actions by Aaron Rodriguez. Multiple sources have come forward and confirmed that he solicited inappropriate pictures from underage girls. I, without any doubt, believe these accusations to be true and am disavowing him publicly. I, along with the rest of the band, am disgusted by these revelations.

The victims of his indiscretions deserve vindication and I encourage anyone with additional information/accusations to come forward (anonymously or otherwise). He will try to lie his way out of the situation so any additional information is useful....

Suburban Scum have been dropped from playing Today's Mixtape Festival. The band has also released a statement about Tom Alderson's recovery. The member of the band that was alleged to be involved in the attack is missing from the signed statement.
We would like to express our deepest sympathy to Tom Alderson, his family, and his friends at this time. Although it is clear that little can change the trauma this situation has caused Tom, the people close to him, and the community at large, we would like to extend our support to Tom and his recovery. We do not condone senseless violence in our community. We are all a part of this scene because we feel passionate about this music and this...

I got a letter today. No return address on the envelope. I open it up and a couple of postal money orders fall out. I figure it's someone having trouble with the jawbreakerband website ordering a shirt or record. I read the note:

Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. are changing their name Jr. Jr.:
The flip side is that as things have grown, so has the amount of confusion caused by the name Dale Earnhardt Jr Jr. Some of it is no big deal and easily cleared up. But sometimes we get sad and bizarre requests sent to our social media sites or emailed to people we work with. We’ve had people drive long distances to shows only to be disappointed when they realize it’s a neurotic Jew and wild haired gentile from Detroit they’ve paid to see. A number of times now we’ve received hope filled inquiries from people who have dying relatives that only want to meet Dale Earnhardt Jr (the driver) before they pass. Those sorts of interactions...

Brandon Roundtree, formerly of Conditions, explains on Facebook why he called it quits.
I stopped playing music because I hated how dependent it made me on other people. My faith in what I was doing felt like a trapeze artist flailing from bar to bar, barely keeping in motion. I would sporadically meet amazing, naturally supportive people amongst the oceans of consumers and they would keep me going momentarily...only to inevitably be let down again at such an exponentially gargantuan rate that I would feel my personality change. I stopped playing music because I am a happy, extremely positive, and supportive person. I am back...and I buy music.

Banner Pilot are having a lot of van issues right now.
Update: the van will not be fixed today. Secured a one-day van rental here in Nurnberg. While we picked it up, the other guys started bringing all our stuff down from the apartment we were staying at to the street. Idea being, we'll pull up and take off right away for Weisbaden. We show up, and find out that somehow the door closed behind them while taking a load downstairs. The guy's only key is locked inside. So now we are driving to his grandparents' house to get the spare key. 40 minutes round trip.
Once we get the key, and get back to his apartment, and get the rest of the stuff, and get on the road, and get to Wiesbaden, and...

Front Porch Step has responded to allegations that surfaced a few months ago. The full post is in the replies.
Texting is a two way street. Numbers have to be exchanged, correspondence has to be reciprocated. Any online private conversations that have now become public are not as one sided as they've appeared. As a touring singer song writer who had access to just about anything, I was happy. I was content. I never once sought out the attention from fans, but was happy to know that I had an online forum of adoring women who thought I was great. Sexual or otherwise, I only had text interactions with willing participants.

Trapt took to Facebook after Paramore won a Grammy last night. Gotta say, posting a rant on Facebook sure does seem "anti-establishment" to me.
The fact that Paramore won an award for Best Rock Song and Beck won for Best Rock Album shows you that there's gotta be a conspiracy going around to destroy the essence of what rock music is all about. The establishment doesn't want anything too threatening or in your face to rile you up, they just want you to nod to adult pop punk;) or indie folk electronica and think it's "rock."
