Square has launched a new feature as part of their Cash app called "$Cashtags." The basic idea is that you can register a tag (kind of like a username) and then anyone can send you cash directly to that tag. The blog post announcing this feature talks about how the company envisions this being a great way for artists to collect money, tips, and things like that. Bands, labels, and artists may want to register their names if you think you're ever going to use the service. And, if you'd like to send me some money to go buy beer and fast-food, you can do that at $chorus.
We think $Cashtags are a fantastic marketing service that lets your customers, donors, fans, or even friends pay you...
Sounding like Fugazi or Shudder to Think fronted by a younger, more vicious Morrissey, they were an anomaly, in Toccoa, or almost anywhere. They brought together such disparate influences that one could barely imagine them co-existing in a band, much less pulling it off as a thoroughly distinctive sound. The English melodicism laid on top of such pummeling instrumentation was a study in contrasts, but it was of a piece, as there was enough of the melodic in the instruments and enough brutality in the lyrics and vocal delivery that it hung together, just so. As singer, Lee Bozeman describes it, "I write these beautiful, nice...
Many of us have no idea what it's like to be thirsty. We have plenty of water to drink - even the water in our toilets is clean! But many people around the world donít have that luxury. Every day, 1,400 kids die from water-related illnesses before they reach their fifth birthday. But it doesnít have to be that way. There are simple solutions like drilled wells, spring protections and BioSand Filters that help provide clean water to communities around the world. We, NEVER SHOUT NEVER, have started this fundraising campaign to help CHARITYWATER build these types of...
Relevant staff member Jesse Carey will be listening to Nickelback on loop for a week straight (Feb 16-22) in hopes of raising $5000 for a well for those in need. So far, $450 has been raised, and has 51 days to go. For more information, head here. If he wanted a real challenge, I'd suggest listening to Attila for a week straight.
A giant pick-up truck barreling through your house and car at a very high speed does a lot of damage and complicates life to a ridiculous point. Since then, we have been on roller coaster after roller coaster, trying to get things back in order and also seeing if it was going to even be a possibility to go out on tour. Setting house stuff aside- there is now no longer a gaping hole and our house is now not being supported by a large, Chevy truck, but there are still many things to fix- we still have to deal with issues with our van. The insurance company won't let us move it- let alone use it for tour, and things aren't moving fast...
If you're looking for a heartwarming story to make your Friday a little better, look no further. Hardcore bands may have a notorious reputation to some, but to many it is known for being among the most united and loyal. One of the scene's most well-respected veterans, Nate Gluck, a bassist and manager for many bands throughout his career, has been stricken with stomach cancer. Due to the overwhelming bills that this illness brings, a GoFundMe was started. Less than 24 hours since it has been started, over $50,000 has been raised. We wish the best for Nate and his family during this time.

Back and forth we go. Taylor Swift's label boss says that Spotify did not pay the multi-million dollar number implied in a recent blog post by the company's CEO. Following that, Business Insider looked at the numbers for the revenue from physical sales -- they will likely be in the 12 million range for one week. To quote a wise man: Any questions?
Allison Weiss and her band rolled their van last night driving from Denver to Salt Lake City. Luckily everyone is okay, minus a few minor injuries. A Paypal has been set up for donations to help with everyone's recovery. No Sleep Records is donating 100% of proceeds from Allison's Say What You Mean and Remember When to the group for the next 72 hours, so if you haven't checked out her music, now is the time. You can read a full statement from Allison in the replies.

Along with the new video they have also created the "Blindfold Challenge" in the vein of the ice bucket challenge. View both videos in the replies and you can donate here.
According to the documents filed at Londonís Companies House, the split allots for 120 shares: 1D holds 50 percent, and the managers hold the other 50. Looking at 5SOS music sales so far, for instance -- 788,000 albums and EPs and 2.4 million song downloads sold, per Nielsen SoundScan -- that would amount to $250,000 in earnings for Modest and 1D, or $25,000 added to each 1D memberís bank account, Billboard estimates. Consider bigger revenue generators like...

The Economist breaks down your career chances if you have tattoos. The video feature can be found here, the article here:
In a forthcoming study, Mr Timming and colleagues asked participants to assess job candidates based on their pictures, some of which were altered to add a neck tattoo. Inked candidates consistently ranked lower, despite being equally qualified. In a separate study Mr Timming found that many service-sector managers were squeamish about conspicuous ink, particularly when filling jobs that involve dealing with customers.
We want to make a true concept album. A story.
Often times we'd discuss how fun it would be to do this, but we never followed through for several reasons. Fear of total commercial failure, the grandiose scope of the whole thing, the fact that it's not the 70's anymore and it's hard enough to hold someones attention for one song, let alone an entire album. But we believe that we've found a group of fans that are craving this very thing from us, and we are now inviting you to join us as we move forward into the next chapter of House of Heroes.

Baby Fat: Act 1 is the first act of a two-act rock opera I've been working on for the past few years. Itís not a rock opera in the traditional sense - the ones done by bands in the 70s seem to me to be concept records Ė but an actual opera with a linear narrative, featuring different singers portraying different characters. Baby Fat is the logical next step for Screeching Weasel after years of making themed and concept records like My Brain Hurts, Anthem For A New Tomorrow, Emo and These Ones Are Bitter.
Without insurance, the cost for the surgery amounts to $50,000, including different programs helping to lower the cost. And even after cost of the surgery, anesesthia, hospital bills, etc, there is rehabilitation and physical therapy as well. Before I go ahead and ask for a handout, I want to make it known that you will be given the opportunity to gain something as well. We have worked together to come up with a few different packages in return for your financial help. After speaking with the hospital, I am certain that this can be taken care of fairly quickly, thus leading to more time spent on...
