Looking through the results of our reader poll for the year's most anticipated albums is always enlightening to me. For one, it gives a snapshot into the collective minds of all our readers that just reading comments and posts never really shows. I mean, you all love Brand New, so I guess that kinda shows. But it also shows where there's a tad difference between the readers and the albums that appeared on our staff anticipated list. It shows that while there's a group of commenters that seem to strongly dislike Kanye West, he makes the list above All Time Low, Motion City Soundtrack, and Thrice. All of the names up at the top are well traveled and known quantities, but there are some...

If you're in or around Philly we've got a pretty cool team up with our friends over at Creep Records. They've got these cool "approved" stickers to put on all albums in their store that have either appeared on our staff end of the year list or have received a high review score. If you're in the area, stop on by and check it out, say hi to the owners, and give them a follow on Twitter.

Our servers are having an issue syncing at the moment so there's probably some weird bugs going on with what threads are being marked as read, where comments and new threads are showing up, and things like that. We're trying to get it fixed as soon as possible. Sorry about this.

Update: I think we got everything fixed. Please leave a comment or hit me up on Twitter if you're still seeing issues.

I recently caught up with Justice Tripp of Angel Du$t, in which I learned that the band will be hopping in the studio with producer Will Yip in July. Oh yeah, did I mention that Trapped Under Ice will be making their return this year? They'll be recording as well. Get excited. You can read the interview here.

A few weeks ago we brought you our Most Anticipated of 2015 feature and explained what albums we were most looking forward to this year. As Drew is known to say: "Our list was perfect." Now we want to hear what your most anticipated albums of the year are and have created a handly little poll for you to fill out. At the end of the month we will tally up all the results to see how the community list compares with the staff list. Go forth and vote!

Due to some scheduling issues with travel (insert Thomas looks like he doesn't want to be there joke here), our podcast episode won't be recorded until tonight. Gee, I wonder what we're going to talk about? I hope to have that edited and posted early tomorrow morning, so make sure you subscribe to our feed if you don't want miss that once it goes up. In other update news: I recently tore out all of the crap on our Tumblr page to make it a far better reading experience not only via a web browser, but also in your dashboard. All of our formatting, tags, snark, and little extras should work far better now and the full desktop experience is actually a pretty nice, no distractions, view of...

Welcome back to the AP.net Playlist! We're here in 2015 with a slightly new name, but the same playlists that you've grown to love. Today we present another user submission from saddr weirdr (Joan) who's been a member with us for about four years. She's bringing us a playlist she calls "To Survive Against All Odds" that she explains as ..."a collection of songs that discuss damage, survival, and the ways that people break each other." Check out the playlist, in Spotify and Rdio formats in the replies.

John Nolan has a new album in the works, and it's all going to be funded through PledgeMusic. Don't know what PledgeMusic is or how it works? Neither did I, but it's pretty rad. Check out what John had to say about the site and what he has in the works for his upcoming solo record in our interview.
My last solo album came out almost 5 years ago now, and then Taking Back Sunday has put out 2 albums since then. A lot of what I’ve been working on has gone to Taking Back Sunday, but here and there I’ve had ideas for songs that I’ve put aside. In the past year there was a quick burst of stuff that came out after Taking Back Sunday’s album that I was feeling like “Oh my gosh, here it is”,...

Yesterday, Pitchfork posted Ian Cohen's review for Cloakroom's album Further Out, which has led to a public outcry from industry folk and music listeners alike. Since then, the publication has modified the review -- presumably from pressure. Here's an excerpt from the original review (full version can be found in the replies):
The most frequently quoted fact from Cloakroom’s bio is that they’re a trio of factory workers from Indiana. It is a nice bit of backstory that makes sense in hindsight upon hearing their minimally arranged, moderately morose and maximally loud debut LP Further Out—so long as they’re not framed as the sort of blue-collar Hoosier hero that might inspire a John...

I recently spoke at length with Ryan Neff of Miss May I, who are set to hop on tour with August Burns Red on the Frozen Flame U.S. Tour, which runs from January 22nd until March 8th. In addition to talking about the tour, we also talked about their time at Knotfest, radio crowds vs Warped Tour crowds, the U.S. Military, and a lot more. You can read the interview here.
I think you get more of an opportunity to get love from a crowd quickly in the Warped Tour side of things. I think it’s a younger group that are a lot more excited to latch onto new music, they’re coming to that show ready to pick up t-shirts from their favorite new band, ready to have somebody win them over at every...

I want to wish everyone a safe and fun holiday season. The website always slows down a little toward the end of the year, no doubt because we're all stuffing ourselves with good food and drinks (hopefully some good music too). If you're looking for something to do over the next few days, the AbsolutePunk Podcast released our AMA episode for Christmas, we've got a thread up in the general forum for "best of 2014" lists (the staff feature will be up on January 5th), and there's a pretty fun "what did you get for Christmas" thread up as well.

Throughout this year, we've been bringing you our favorite new releases in quarterly playlists. With the new year a couple of weeks away, we've compiled all of these playlists into a massive one that we call: "2014, A Year In Music." We've also put together a fourth quarter playlist with the best from the past three months which you can listen to as a stand alone playlist if you'd like. If not, press play on our 90-track summary of some of the best music of 2014. We focused on lesser known releases for the most part, so hopefully you can pick up some last minute additions to your end of the year list. Check out both the all year playlist and the fourth quarter playlist in both Spotify...
