Gerard Way recently sat down with NME to talk about his first live shows as a solo artist, what to expect, playing My Chemical Romancesongs as part of his solo project and how he looks forward to Reading and Leeds. Check out the video in the replies.
"There was a moment when I was weighing up the options and it just didn't feel like the right time yet to play any My Chemical Romance songs. I didn't feel this strong urge to do it, you know? I also wouldn't want to false advertise, I don't think it's the kind of thing I'm going to be doing a lot, so I wouldn't want to come out for the first show and play any because then I think it would be kind of expected."
The definitive biography of post–hardcore rock band My Chemical Romance, based on exclusive, unpublished interviews by the journalist who knew the band best. My Chemical Romance is the Nirvana of the post–hardcore generation. As the most significant band in alternative rock on both sides of the Atlantic for the past decade, My Chemical Romance has sold five million albums and played to packed arenas worldwide. In March 2013, their sudden break–up shocked the industry and made headline news in top music...
“I got sick physically and mentally because I didn’t listen to what my inner self said…” Which was? “Which was when Parade was over, that’s the end. I always said that to myself and I had been relatively vocal about saying that around the rest of the band. I plan things out pretty far in advance. I sat down with a piece of paper before Bullets came out and I wrote. I wrote down titles of records, what they were going to be like and what they were going to accomplish for the band.”...

Gerard Way debuted "Action Cat" earlier this week and there were some comments about how the vocals sounded "buried" in the mix -- while the merits of if it works are definitely up for the debate, Gerard has clarified on Twitter that it's exactly the sound he was going for. Personally, I'm always interested in seeing an artist's thoughts on choices made in recording that listeners react negatively too. I feel like we usually go into a listening session with the assumption that if something sounds "off" or "wrong" that it's a mistake and rarely do we focus on why that choice may have been made intentionally.
An artist claims he worked with and for My Chemical Romance in 2009 and has not received credit. Gerard Way has responded on Twitter by reaching out to the artist with, "Vasilis, I have now seen what you wrote. I think this is absolutely not the way this should be handled. Obvious we need to talk."
Time passes with no word of the record/project/anything and in the summer of 2010 I get word from a friend that "my video was out" I was in China at that point, trekking mountains that no whitey has seen before and it took me some time to get around some internet and around that stupid Chinese "no google" wall thing. I saw the video with what it looked like my guns, and my costume designs. I...
I’ve also given a lot of thought to what exactly it is I do. I spent so many years defining myself or reading other people’s definitions (where I found myself occasionally looking for clues, strangely) that I became comfortable with the job description “Rocker who writes comics and makes drawings on the side”. Over the years this stopped working for me, and I really needed to embrace the fact that there are many things I do, and it is difficult to give that a title, so basically I stopped looking for definitions and just started giving myself over to my artistic flow, and where it takes me.
I am pleased to let you know I am now signed as a solo artist Warner Bros Records. My album is near completion, and you should expect to hear things in the near future, even today actually- with a brief snippet of what is to come. I am excited. It’s starting again-
Gerard Way, former frontman of My Chemical Romance, has posted a lengthy update on Twitter regarding his thoughts on interacting with his former band's fanbase. For a little more background, you can read his tweets yesterday.
As far as yesterday is concerned, the last thing I'd want anyone to feel is that I have a general perception of you all as overwhelmingly negative. That is not the case. In an effort to try and help people understand certain things, as a communicator, sometimes it is easier to deal with something when it is directly brought to you, maybe by someone that is confused. People that communicate and connect with each other have a strong desire to be understood. It was...
I was going through it. It was sad, like the passing of a family member. But over time I got great joy and pleasure from reflecting. I was able to truly put on some songs and be like, ‘Wow, we really did something. We cracked the heavens.’ With MCR we were so busy. I was never able to stop and smell the roses, or evaluate myself completely. That’s what the past year was all about. I was able to dig deep inside myself and become the man I always wanted to be.

My Chemical Romance's greatest hits album will also include demos and rarities. The latest annoucement from the band is below.
On March 25, we will be releasing a greatest hits album entitled "May Death Never Stop You." The title is fitting, because as sad as it was to say goodbye to the band, we look at this collection as a celebration of our best songs, and hope the memory of them continues to bring joy to you all as they have for us. The album also includes some previously unreleased material, including the infamous "Attic Demos," and one of the last songs we worked on in the studio together. On January 21, we will be opening pre-orders for the album right here on our site. We hope...
Hits Daily Double is listing a new My Chemical Romance release – an album name is not specified – on their upcoming releases chart. The listing date is January 21, 2014. There is no way to tell whether it's a reissue of some kind, B-sides or a greatest hits, but we'll update this news post if any more information becomes available. Feel free to speculate in the replies.
Update: Alternative Press tweeted, "Lots of rumors circulating throughout the #MCRmy today. We have received confirmation that #MCR's alleged Jan. release is NOT new material." This is not exactly fraught with information but it's definitely a tweet.
