I recently sat down with Chad Gilbert of New Found Glory, in which we spoke about one of his favorite bands, Madball. We talk about his first experiences with the band, the possibility of new music from Hazen St., and more. You can check it out here.
The first time I saw them live, I actually opened for them. It was Shai Hulud, this local band Brethren, and Madball at Cheers in Miami, around 96'-97'. It was really crazy, the crowd was insane.
New Found Glory will be live streaming their set from the Glamour Kills Tour this Saturday, November 1st with Yahoo! Live. You can watch the band's performance at the House of Blues in Anaheim live online at 10:40PM PT.
Lyrically, things have changed slightly. You know, it’s not 13 songs about girls, where most of our songs in the past have all been about relationships. There are a couple relationship songs on this record, but there’s also a lot of songs that deal with regular life questions, and a lot of things about how you overcome struggles; how do you get past things? Are you even living your life the way you want to? What are you going to do with your life? Are you okay with trying to push through anything to get what you want?
I wouldn’t say stale, because I’m very grateful for our career. But you’re writing the same way for a long time, of course there are going to be things that feel a little bit more routine and comfortable. I think that’s what the song “Selfless” is about. I know — and I don’t mean this in a conceited way — we’ve created this subgenre of music. So, I’m comfortable knowing that I can write songs that I know our fans and people will be into, but that was from a safe point. Now I’m going to push myself without this new way of writing out of this safe zone. “Selfless” is a declaration of where we see ourselves and where we want to be.
We recently talked with Jordan Pundik about New Found Glory's latest record, Resurrection. Check it out here.
There’s nothing wrong with singing about girls. We’ve always sung about relationships and talked about relationships, but this one was a little more focused. There was a point where we thought this band wasn’t going to be a band anymore. When you come to that point where something you hold so close and love so dearly almost comes to an end, it puts things in perspective for you. That was a big thing, especially going into writing this record. This record was a very cathartic record for us.
If you missed the hour long stream last week of the new New Found Glory album (and were one of the tens of people that didn't then just go download the leaked album), you can stream the album over at Rolling Stone India. It hits stores tomorrow.
It’s directed more toward younger bands I meet, and all they talk about is business and numbers, and how many kids showed up to the show, and never once do they mention, “Me and my friend took this stick of dynamite and blew up a Porta-Potty!” which is what we would do back then. No matter how popular we ever were, the focus was always to be sincere and write music from the heart, and be grateful for the career you were given. This whole scene has been building for a long time. If you’re only in it for drawing kids and making money, and if you’re not in it because it’s your passion, then you’re ruining your...
The new record from New Found Glory will be called Resurrection. It's up for pre-order on the UK iTunes with an October 6th release date -- that should put it at October 7th over here.

After a "fan" mentioned they may never go to a New Found Glory show again since Steve is no longer writing the band's lyrics, Chad clarified on Twitter that everyone in the band has helped write over the years and not to worry about the band's next release.
we all wrote. I did my friends over you, story so far, singled out & like 30 others. He just liked saying that in interviews
Upon our return from Warped Tour Australia, Steve made us aware of possible allegations that might be made against him. At that point, not knowing all the details, we made the decision to part ways in order for him to deal with these personal issues. Us 4 members of New Found Glory have given our entire lives to this band and will continue to do so. We’ve been able to play all over the world for the most amazing fans. We can't wait to get in the studio to make a new album and we can't wait to get back on the road! Just coming off the Parahoy cruise and a surprise show in our hometown we are more inspired than ever! Thank you so much...
