Vanna revealed last night that they will have a new album out next summer. They also strongly hinted that they'll be playing Warped Tour. We'll have a full review of the show (A Loss For Words' last) in the near future.
Billboard has posted an article on that whole Slaves being booted off Warped thing.
"When I booked him, my first question was, 'Is Jonny sober?'" Lyman tells Billboard via email, expressing concern over past problems Craig (who also fronts Dance Gavin Dance and Emarosa) had with drugs and alcohol. Craig admits he was drinking with his bandmates when the harrassment occurred.
Accordingtolots of postsonTwitter, and multiple sources, Slaves were asked not to play Warped Tour over the past few days. What led to this is still unclear and I've been unable to confirm for how long they'll not be playing.
Happy Friday everyone! I had planned to spend the day catching up on podcasts and relaxing for the long Fourth of July weekend. So, first things first: I hope everyone has a great and safe weekend. Definitely take advantage of that Apple Music trial to try out some new music while watching fireworks (I wrote up a few things I’ve been listening to lately on my blog). Usually this is the part of the week where I’d link to something funny, random, or interesting that I found over the past week. However, after seeing my Twitter at-replies this morning I’m just not in the mood for that right now. Instead, since I need more than 140 characters and I’m getting a bunch of questions about my...
I fell in love with you when I was newly 16 years old. It was 2007, and the first year I’d found a way to get to you. My friend and I made plans, and scrimped and saved, and convinced a parent to drive us all the way out to Wheatland, California to see you. It was one of the best days of my life up until that point. You were the reason I started a band. You were the reason I have a platform to write this today, because you lead me to discover the bands that made me want to write.
But that was then, and things change.
There comes a time where actions have to be amplified louder than words. I’ve loved you as much as I’ve ever loved...
This time last year, there were so many of us challenging structures like the Warped Tour on their refusal to accurately represent female artists on their bills. We talked about the way it acts as a barrier to women who wish to get involved in alternative music and the message it sends to female fans that their place is solely in audiences, looking up to male artists and being treated only as groupies, “fangirls” or, if they’re lucky, backstage staff. We called upon Kevin Lyman and his peers to buy into the concept that they have a certain social responsibility to the people that they make their money from.
Today, Front Porch Step is playing the Warped Tour and may possibly play the...
Tony Perry from Pierce the Veil was in a mountain biking accident in which he needed to be hospitalized. Per Vic Fuentes' Instagram, "He sustained 3 broken ribs, a torn shoulder, collapsed lung and a broken sternum, for which he needed immediate surgery to repair." He will miss a part of Warped Tour and Jesse Barrera will be filling in for him.
As I talked about a little in this week's podcast, I've been working on a lengthier article in response to a lot of the stuff that's been going on in our music scene lately. It's on my blog because it gets long and I think it's a better reading experience there.
Sometimes I find myself trapped in a cycle of cynicism, believing that the way things are is the how they will stay. I remember feeling this way a lot during those first Bush-as-President years, and I’ve felt the dark coils wrapped around my mind again recently. With all of the news popping up around the Pure Noise Records situations, the what-feels-like weekly new discoveries of misconduct within the music scene, and the almost...
The YouTuber, Austin Jones, that was asking young girls to send him twerking videos, was going to be on Warped Tour, and inspired a petition, has posted a message on Facebook saying he's going to be in therapy and taking some time away.
What was I thinking? That's the question I know most of you want to know and, quite frankly, I want to know too. I have decided to take this time to reflect and to discover how to grow from this and become a better person. I owe that to my family, my friends, my fans, but most importantly to me.
After a Change.org petition showed up over the weekend asking Warped Tour to remove Austin Jones from the tour, Kevin Lyman said he would take all YouTubers off the tour, but has now clarifed that he needs to go through "due process" first. I guess that means vetting the facts.
Warped Tour have announced new additions: Senses Fail, Miss May I, H2O (08/07-08/08), Knuckle Puck, The Bunny The Bear (07/26-08/08), Kaya Stewart (07/15-08/08), TAT (06/19-07/01) and Macy Kate (07/02-07/04, 07/06).
Warped Tour have officially announced the next seven bands added to the tour: A+ Dropouts (6/19-7/3), Attila, August Burns Red, Drama Club, False Puppet (7/23-8/8), Memphis May Fire, and We Came As Romans.
Paul Adler, writing over at Medium, has posted a piece looking at the sexual violence that has occured at Warped Tour.
But over the past half-decade, a handful of alt-scene, so-called “Warped Tour” bands have found themselves accused of sexual misconduct with minors. Musicians have been convicted of crimes, and other bands have been condemned for their apparent advocacy of physical and sexual violence, especially toward women. Of course, the bands and the tour are separate entities, and Warped isn’t legally responsible (moral responsibility is another matter) for the actions of its acts. Nonetheless, it’s tempting to let these scandals color the general perception of the tour. More...
It looks like a promoter in my hometown messed up and posted a photo online that appears to show quite a bit of this year's Warped Tour line-up. We can't confirm the legitimacy of this leak, but, it is out there now. Attila and Youth and Revolt!? Sign me right up!
The bands announced for Warped Tour today all come from the acoustic basement: Aaron West and The Roaring Twenties, American Opera, Brian Marquis, Buttons, Grey Gordon, Koji, Meghann Wright, Onward, etc., PVRIS (Dates TBD), SayWeCanFly, Speak Low If You Speak Love (7/9-7/14), and Transit.
t’s with heavy heart that I must announce, yet I am sure comes as no surprise to you all, that Danny has decided to leave Asking Alexandria to pursue other musical interests. Before you lose your composure and think this is the end I would like to say that myself, James, Cam and Sam have all been in this since day one. We love Asking Alexandria and we love every single fan/AAFamily member around the world. As with any family there are ups and downs. There are good times and hard times. A family is there to support you and help you in your darkest hours. We have been...
