David Joseph at Universal Music in London has refused the request made by Morrissey and the band to re-issue 'I'm Throwing My Arms Around Paris' as a loving tribute to the lives lost in the Paris atrocities. David Joseph is instead arranging his own tribute to Paris utilizing his current crop of Universal artists.
Back in July, dour British funeral singer (vegan funerals only) Morrissey alleged that an airport security officer at San Francisco International Airport had groped his genitals during a pat-down and said that heíd filed a claim for assault.
There is absolutely no way that we can generate any interest from record labels in the United Kingdom, therefore the imminent two nights at Hammersmith are likely to be our final ever UK shows. We are obsessively grateful for all interest and loyalty from our audience ... throughout 28 years ... but without new releases, there is no point in any additional touring. Thank you for so many absolutely incredible times. The pleasure and privilege is mine ...
Don't short weeks like this always feel like the longest? The weekend cometh. To help it get here faster, hit the replies to stream two EPs worth of The Smiths songs done as 8-bit video game soundtracks.
Morrissey recently sat down with Larry King to give his first "in-depth interview in 10 years" and discussed his cancer diagnosis, depression, the recent alleged sexual assault he experienced and the American presidential candidates. Check out some clips in the replies.
Here are three previously unheard initial run-throughs of 'Something Is Squeezing My Skull', 'One Day Goodbye Will Be Farewell' and 'Mama Lay Softly On The Riverbed' from the 2008 Years Of Refusal sessions.
Morrissey has posted a note on True to You saying he was sexually assaulted at San Francisco International Airport earlier this week.
Apart from "that's just your opinion", he would not comment, even though, since the penis and testicles were mine and no one else's, then my opinion must surely have some meaning. But, of course, what the airport security officer was saying was: your opinion will never count in the eyes of the law. The words "that's just your opinion" volunteered themselves from this 'officer's' mouth before he had even heard the question. He knew he could be confronted, but he also knew that he could never be challenged (even though the entire incident is most certainly...
The object of the Brit Awards is to create the impression of national consensus as they award pop artists of untested stature or value with bogus awards that, it is slyly implied, have been dictated by you, the objective listener. The Brit Awards do not ask the public who they would like to see receive awards - for that would be to risk too much, yet the fierce insistence is that artists are rewarded for their prominence in the previous twelve months because, after all, "it's what everybody wants." Thus, for 2015, we have MacDonna, who had a quiet 2014 (but who is quite usefully about to release her new album!), yet here she is...
"They have scraped cancerous tissues four times already, but whatever," he said. "If I die, then I die. And if I donít, then I donít. Right now I feel good. I am aware that in some of my recent photos I look somewhat unhealthy, but thatís what illness can do. Iím not going to worry about that, Iíll rest when Iím dead."
In spite of that, Billboard has confirmed that Morrissey is still under contract with Harvest, the label behind his most recent album, World Peace Is None of Your Business. A source close to the situation tells Billboard that Moz has not been dropped by Harvest/Capitol, and that his contract with the company calls for two releases, the first of which was World Peace.
Update: True-To-You have posted the following response:
In response to Andrew Flanagan's incorrect report for Billboard online (15 August 2014), both Morrissey and Morrissey's lawyer are in possession of email...
Three weeks after the release of Morrissey's World Peace Is None Of Your Business (#2 UK, #14 US), Capitol Records/Harvest have ended their relationship with Morrissey, as directed by label boss Steve Barnett. Morrissey is once again in search of a record label.
I cannot admit to actually "knowing" Bradley Steyn. Yes, I am aware that he is South African and that he lives in Los Angeles, and that he has "walked off" three Morrissey tours - which really is his own business, not mine. My personal involvement with him has been zero, and he has certainly never been Head Of Security on any Morrissey tour.
I am aware of the false story he has placed on various news sites wherein he claims I asked him to "hurt" (kill?) David Tseng. Although Steyn's story lends itself to its own ridicule, I feel I must say to those who have not yet worked it out, that the story is a vexatious lie....
Cliff Richard was supposed to play with Morrissey this weekend, however, after the show was cancelled he instead headlined the Gramercy Theater. During the show Cliff mentioned that as of this weekend Morrissey was "still in the hospital."
Drama is everywhere! Morrisseycanceled his current tour and the statement said that it was due to a respiratory infection that he believes he caught from opening act Kristeen Young. She then released a statement denying she was sick, and that she just had allergies. Now, Morrissey's guitarist, Jesse Tobias, has posted a statement on True to You responding to this "Facebook hatred." The full thing is in the replies.
Only speaking from my experience, with the crew and Moz falling ill in Miami, for Kristeen to deny she was truly sick seems disingenuous. I was told after the show in Miami by Crew and Security that there was some concern because Kristeen was obviously unwell. Our crew then...
It is with great sadness that the remainder of the US Tour has been cancelled. The respiratory infection Morrissey contracted in Miami has worsened, and in the interest of making a full recovery, all further touring plans have been halted. Morrissey thanks his fans for their compassion, understanding, and well-wishes during this difficult period as he recuperates.
Another spoken word video for Morrissey's forthcoming album World Peace Is None Of Your Business has been revealed today. This clip sees a spoken word version of "Earth Is The Loneliest Planet" and features Pamela Anderson alongside Moz. Check it out here.
PETA put together an animated video to open for Morrissey's nationwide tour. It's in the replies.
Every year, 8 billion chickens are orphaned, stuffed into severely crowded sheds, and trucked to slaughter. "Someday," a new video created by PETA and animated by Anna Saunders, is scheduled to be featured on rock icon Morrissey's nationwide tour. The video takes viewers on a harrowing journey as they witnessóthrough the eyes of one terrified birdóthe typical experience of chickens raised for meat. Will our young chick survive what 8 billion chickens each year cannot?
I would like to stress that I do not have either a Twitter or a Facebook account. I gather that a Twitter account has been opened in my name - as 'It's Morrissey' - but it is NOT Morrissey. I do not know who has opened this recent Twitter account, but please be aware that it is bogus. That's, of course, if you should remotely care.
We've got a pair of tickets to give away for Morrissey's show on June 21st at the Barclay's Center in Brooklyn. Want to win? Leave a message in the replies why we should pick you. Make sure your email address in your profile is correct, that's how we'll be contacting you.
Watch a promo video for Morrissey's forthcoming release World Peace Is None Of Your Business in the replies which features the singer reciting the lyrics over a jazz/lounge style setting and an appearance from his good friend Nancy Sinatra.
Check the replies to see Morrissey performing three new songs from his upcoming album live. Also included is footage of when the stage was rushed and Morrissey got sorta tackled -- which led to the concert being cut short.
