Matt Pond PArecently blogged that he is in a "full on brawl" with Doghouse Records and that he will "never see a dime" from his newest album.
These will be our last shows for the foreseeable future. Our problems are insignificant in the grand scheme and I’ve tried to subdue most of thefires in my life privately. But we’re in a full-on brawl with our label, Doghouse. I will never see a dime from The State Of Gold. They would rather have us fail than succeed with anything in our lives.
To return the favor, we're having a contest. All you have to do is create a Spotify playlist of your favorite music -- MPPA and beyond. Chris and I will choose our favorite 20 playlists and those people will receive an invite to a record release show at my house in Kingston, NY on July 10th. In order to participate, please share the playlist on social media using the hashtag #lookupstate.
We've been blindsided, robbed in Chicago after one of the best shows of the tour. The worst of the worst made off with our passports, money and computers. Now, I've staggered a good deal in this life. But this time is especially heavy because I truly care about these people. Because we also lost words, pictures, music and privacy that mean more than anything that comes with a price tag. (Although, the price tag of our itemized list comes to $12,000.) If you'd like to help us out, we'd truly appreciate it. Insurance covers some of what's gone, but it's far from all.
We've set up a Matt Pond PA giveaway which includes the band's last album The Dark Leaves, their new Spring Fools EP, as well as a few other goodies. Go here for a chance to win because we're giving away five of these packages. Good luck!
Matt Pond PA's new Spring Fools EP is one of the best releases to have come out this year. If you haven't had the chance to hear it yet, I strongly urge you to check it out on their AP.net profile where it's currently streaming in its entirety. The single "Love To Get Used" is the perfect opener and one of the band's best songs to date, and the rest of the EP is equally as stunning; Matt Pond sounds as great as ever and the lush back-up vocals are simply lovely. Go have a listen and let us know what you think about it in the replies.
Matt Pond PA have made a new song entitled "People Have a Way" available for streaming on their myspace profile. The track is set to appear on the group's upcoming effort, Last Light, which is scheduled for release on September 25th courtesy of Altitude Records.
