hopefully. maybe gambino's album will start pushing things into the spotlight? also ofwgkta's vma win has shown that current fringe rappers have some viability although i'm sure a lot of people will freak out that i've included them in this crowd. it's more that they've got common ground as far as doing something different, not so much content or a specific sound. the hip-hop mainstream really needs more diversity. black star's return could play into it too.
