Make Do and Mend Set for 2012 Full-Length Release on Rise

Make Do and Mend will release a full-length album on Rise Records in 2012, as announced in AltPress' list of 2012's most anticipated album releases. It is estimated for a summer release. The record will be the band's first for Rise and recording will begin February 20 with producer Matt Bayles (Mastodon, Rocky Votolato, Botch).

Jason Tate 11/30/11 12:32 PM

Thanks for posting this Thomas.

Rob McWilliams 11/30/11 12:33 PM

Haha, so Jay was right after all.

Great news.

ACA 11/30/11 12:34 PM

Matt Bayles is doing the new Cursive record due this winter. For anyone who doesn't know, he was in Minus the Bear and did the keys/synths on Highly Refined Pirates. He's produced, written, and played on a lot of great records.

MDAM have so much potential, End Measured Mile was great.

I hope they don't blow it. I would hate to see this band embrace the Four Year Strong/A Day to Remember/whatever awful-ass bullshit is consuming bands these days. Here's to hoping, instead, for a killer record.

ACA's douchey elitism shows...as in every post.
Either way, really enjoyed the acoustic EP. curious to see where they go with this. Still don't see how they fit in with the rest of the Wave, as the styles aren't even close.

HometownHero 11/30/11 12:36 PM

Lol cwhit just called someone a douchey elitist lol.

They absolutely won't go that route, I have more faith in this band than basically any band I've ever worked with in my life. They have a great sound, a sound that's JUST different enough to carry some water, and an excellent mentality. Their LP is my most anticipated for 2012 by far!

Rise, you're doing it right.

That's not elitism...that's stating an opinion.

I don't expect it, but I'm scared for all of these "new" bands.

The temptation to put out a worthless record and cash in on a generation of dumb ass kids is just so large. It's so easy to do, and, until MDAM really establish themselves, it's a worry of mine. Though, a tour with Thursday, meWithoutYou, Aficionado.. covering Touche Amore.. endorsement from La Dispute, Pianos, etc.. that should erase that fear. Here's to hoping it's fucking awesome!

They've toured with plenty of other great bands as well, they're doing it right.

I am super excited for this one too... BUT THERE IS NEW GASLIGHT NEXT YEAR, THOMAS. MDAM are a top 5 most anticipated for me, but Gaslight will hold the top slot no matter what.

Haha yes

HometownHero 11/30/11 12:42 PM

I don't like some of the recent signings but I admire Rise Records. And because of that, they made me give Transit and A Loss For Words a second chance and I got a pair of great records. The guy does it right. Even the bands I personally hate, he treats right. Such a great label.

Rob McWilliams 11/30/11 12:42 PM

The staff really need to invest in a shock collar for cwhit.

Regrettably, I missed Polar Bear Club, Fireworks, Such Gold, Balance and Composure, and Make Do and Mend this fall. That's a really solid lineup, and I shit the bed.. but the sets were so, so, so short that I couldn't really justify it.

Before that, who have they toured with? I don't recall seeing them ever headline the NYC-area?

TheCochino 11/30/11 12:43 PM

These guys never disappoint.

Nick Le 11/30/11 12:43 PM

Congrats! Love End Measured Mile. Still need to cop the acoustic EP.

I'm hoping to grab it when I see them in Philly or NJ. Every band I've ever talked to has always said that they see more of the money when you get it from them on tour, so, I tend to hold off when possible.

That tour was awesome, so worth it. Also saw them a little over a year ago with Defeater, All Teeth, and Living With Lions.

jornor 11/30/11 12:47 PM

MDAM on RISE?

Jake Jenkins 11/30/11 12:47 PM

now if only people would stop calling this band post-hardcore

ACA 11/30/11 12:47 PM

I have a good feeling that Matt Bayles isn't going to stand for some of the subpar moments that hurt MDAM from time to time. The guy is really, really on-point, and, from what I've heard from bands who work with him, he's not afraid to get his hands dirty and really make a band kill themselves for their best possible sound.

I wonder if it will be a "summer record", with a release date so close to summer.

NateFoundGlory 11/30/11 12:49 PM

Rise is probably my favorite record now. I don't even care.

low_rising 11/30/11 12:49 PM

Congrats, hope these guys do good on Rise, also they're getting some really great signings lately.

Pretty much.
They're pop punk with hardcore influences.
