General News

The Perth leg of Big Day Out has a new venue.

Check out some live streaming of the Peats Ridge Festival here, or if you are reading this from the future I’m sure they will have some cool live videos up.

Check out the Rage’s top 50 music videos of the year. Good to see Heroes For Hire sneaking in.

Dillion Rivers, from Melbourne hardcore band Lovers Grave, passed away earlier this week.

Hands Like Houses have signed to Rise Records.

Tour/Show News

Sydney Soundwave has sold out making it the first time the entire east coast has sold out.

La Dispute has sold out a show in Brisbane.

Josh Pyke and Tim Finn have announced some free shows for the Sydney festival. That’s a no brainer right there.

Golden Plains has completely sold out.

Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs tour has been postponed.

Release News

Both Say Anything and The Used have announced deals with UNFD to release their upcoming albums in Australia, hopefully this means some cheaper albums/no imports.

My Chemical Romance has released an Australian exclusive tour pack.

Australian Song Of The Week

On the back of their recent signing, here is Lion Skin by Hands Like Houses.

Old(er) news now but BodyJar's reunion shows have some of the best reunion line ups for Australian punk rock.

Antiskeptic, For Amusement Only and 99 Reasons Why have all reformed for support slots.

I better start paying attention to these since I'm moving to Australia soon.

it's good too see any young bands making a dent somewhere. even though they aren' that young any more, it still gives me hope.

That list is full of good young, Australian bands though. And honestly, they're easily the worst.

The Decoration's EP, Anywhere Is Home drops on January 12th. It's terrific.

Weird... I only saw Hands Like Houses at Ev's a month or so ago and now they're signed?! Well done boys! Yaaaaaaay, Say Anything. Happy for Soundwave but I still know heaps of people that want to go and can't. Oh well, glad I got my ticket.

I'm counting down the days until Soundwave. Going on my own, but I don't really mind. It'll be worth it.

they aren't that bad. they've been working hard for years and stuck to what they wanna do. sure they dont have the best reputation, or it may not be my favorite music, but i still gotta admire their work ethic.

they've put in the hard yards, not just some indie one hit band that the triple j crowd fawn over.
