Weekly Album Sales & Chart Update (04/24/12)
Neon Trees sold about 19k copies of their new album in the first week. Fun. added another 14k to their total.
|
Another disappointing sales week for a rock band. Wouldve thought Neon Trees would moved at least 30k. I guess the love for Animal didn't carry over. That's the second time I've been shocked in the last month by a low sales total. The first was All American Rejects

Hopefully the Letterman performance spikes funs sales up again.
|
Also, interesting to note we could finally be seeing the slow decline of 21. I still don't know how 90,000 people are deciding each week that they're just now going to buy Adele's most recent album.

On the one hand its a shame Neon Trees didn't sell more. Overall the album is *way* better than Habits in my mind. Didn't really like anything outside of Animal on that one but enjoy most of the stuff on Picture Show.
On the other hand, I haven't actually gotten around to buying the album yet so can't complain about their lack of sales. #blamerdio |
Yeah, Neon Trees moving so little has to hurt, same with AAR earlier this month. Both camps have gotta be let down.

I can't think of any ways to spike sales of an album containing a Hot 100 no. 1 hit at this point, but hopefully. |

The lesson is....everyone has their time, and then it ends (not to say AAR and Neon Trees are really hurting) but thats why you gotta give it up to bands like brand new...that band couldnt be doing MORE to hurt themselves and they still sell out shows in under 30 seconds (you can never click that fucking buy ticket now button fast enough) ...i guess they're like that girl who ignores you, only making you want her about 1000x more |

True, but AAR have always had at least one huge single from each album that tend to find second lives via stuff like grocery store/mall play, commercials, etc... so I think this flop is really gonna hurt them in the long run. I blame Neon Trees' shortcoming on the lack of promotion though, AP.net is literally the only place I've seen Picture Show even mentioned. |
Nearly 20,000 albums sold isn't THAT bad for a sophomore release. With their songs being included in movies (American Reunion comes to mind) and their headlining tour coming up, as well as other licensing opportunities that will llikely come up, I think Neon Trees will be okay.

what i'm most surprised by is how well gotye is doing, somebody i used to know is the number one single now and he just sold over 40,000 copies last week, so at least one good artist is doing well

How is Lionel Ritchie #1 for the second week in a row?
|
Any way we can get total sales for Fun.?
|
Fun. has sold really well in this time and economy.
