Jeff Kummer Dropping off Early November Tour

Jeff Kummer won't be playing drums for The Early November on their Midwest and West Coast tour dates. Matt Weber from Young Statues will be filling in for him, but Jeff will be back for the record release shows.

Update: Here is a statement from Jeff.
StatementBefore I get ripped for leaving tour you should all know a few things.

This is not my decision. This is not something I want. I've been part of The Early November from the start and I care about well being of that band more than a lot of people will ever know.

The fact is I have a great job that I worked my ass off for during our hiatus and I'm getting married next year. I can not throw that all away in the blink of an eye.

I expressed my concerns to the band before doing this. I told them that I can not tour full time and that I thought it was a bad idea to get a fill in. Unfortunately the only way for this band to stay active is for me to play selective shows.

Do I like it? No. But it is what it is. I get first dibs on everything we do and we go from there. I'm not mad at my band. We are all different people with different needs.

Just know that this was not something that happened on tour. I'm sorry to anyone who feels shafted but this is the only was our band can stay active.

Haha, what a nonchalant and awesome way to relay that info. Love it.

a bit weird, doesnt seem like the band is his main priority. I realize he has a family, just idk figured rise would give them a good amount of support.

As dumb as this sounds most bands cannot just make ends meat just on touring alone. So they do this thing called working a job. He needs to keep his bills paid and well if TEN or other projects are not doing that then most people go get jobs to make sure that shit is up to date.

So glad I saw them yesterday...pretty cool seeing how much fun they still have playing shows together (Serge can probs land a job as a stuntman if he wanted to with his acrobatics)

Completely confident Matt from Young Statues will fill in fine...entire band is talented and definitely deserve to hit it big.

awhhh so bummed. Jeff's crowd interactions were my favorite part of their set at bledfest. Great drummer, great dude. From what I heard of Young Statues they seem like pretty talented people, too, so hopefully things go well.

Bummed about this. :( I was really looking forward to seeing the full band perform again.

We miss Jeff already! We knew going into this that he has a full time job that's totally awesome and he loves. The thing about doing this band again is that we all have different schedules to work around which can be a little tough, but we're trying our best to make it work.
