Dan Brown Leaves We Are the Ocean

We Are the Ocean vocalist Dan Brown has left the band.
From the AnnouncementDan and the band had a meeting recently where Dan agreed that his passion lies behind the scenes as a manager, as opposed to musically. We felt we would be doing him, ourselves and, most importantly, you our fans a massive disservice if we did not acknowledge this fact immediately.

well their new (and first) song without him is the best thing they've done since the first EP

At least he can fall back on his career as a best-selling author.

Oh wow, did not see this coming. Hopefully Liam can carry the band vocally. I have a lot of faith that he can.

This sucks, hope it doesn't hurt their live show too much for Warped. Was hoping to catch them.

I would disagree, sounds really generic and too radio rock for my tastes

Here is the new song with just Liam : http://wearetheoceanofficial.tumblr.com/

sounds too much like Seether / Papa Roach ...seems like they are going in a more radio rock direction which is too bad. the song doesn't even showcase how good a vocalist Liam is.

Given that The Waiting Room is
A) the only song I know by these guys and
B) completely reliant on the dual vocal interplay

not really sure what to make of this.

Interesting to see how this will pan out, Dan really was genuinely into trying to rev up the crowd at the Swellers show in January, nice dudes in this band as well.

I'm ok with this, they didn't do much for me earlier in their career and if they want to move in a direction akin to their last album they'd probably be better off with just Liam.

Going the Deaf Havana route then...

Dammit! I can in here to make a similar, but less clever, joke / reference.

Their last album was fantastic, songs like What It Feels Like, Runaway and Now And Then were great and Dan's cleans were actually quite good. Deffinately going to miss him in the band, especially as I got back into them recently and have had Runaway on repeat quite a lot.
