Muse Respond to Copyright Lawsuit

The members of Muse have learned that legal action has been commenced in the US against their record company, Warner Music, alleging that the band's 2009 album, The Resistance, infringed copyright.
Response From SpokesmanThe claim is complete nonsense, and is categorically denied. It appears to be based on a 'screenplay' which the band never received or saw, produced by someone the band has never heard of. It speaks volumes that the album in question was released a full 3 years ago, and yet this is the first that has been heard of these groundless allegations. Warner Music will aggressively defend this lawsuit, and the band is exploring what remedies may be available to them in the US in relation to these untrue and baseless allegations.

If I were going to sue Muse over copyright infringement that didn't happen, I'd claim I wrote Origin Of Symmetry, not The Resistance.

Although I like both.

Ha! Someone must not like what they've heard so far of The 2nd Law.

It's going to be very, very difficult for this guy to convince courts that he inspired the band and copyrighted the idea of humans colonizing space, especially given that Matt Bellamy has been talking and writing about the subject for years.

Well, if they did just blatantly steal an image and a name, then it will be a little easier than you think. Especially if the guy has proof that he approached them about it in 2005.

Weird, I was expecting it to be the surviving members of Queen.
