Top Emo-Revival Records

The twinkle-daddy/emo revival/whatever the piss you want to call them bands have thrown out some incredible, incredible offerings, and I'm curious to hear from some fans what their favorites are. My own personal:

Grown Ups- More Songs
No doubt my favorite emo record of the last 10 years. Such quality jams, encompassing every good element of the twinkle variety.

Runners up:

Snowing- I Could Do Whatever I Wanted If I Wanted
If you don't/haven't listened to Snowing, do it right now. Such a great emo punk band.

Joie de Vivre- The North End
A great album to chill to, with variety of instrumentation and real emotional depth.

Other favorites:
Dikembe - Chicago Bowls and Broad Shoulders
Everyone Everywhere - s/t
Algernon Cadwallader - Every Release
The Clippers/Coping- split 7''
The World is a Beautiful Place and I Am No Longer Afraid to Die - Are Here To Help

Which EE s/t are you promoting here, hahahaha.

Coloso 10/09/12 07:47 PM

best is A Bunny's Caravan - Draining Puddles, Retrieving Treasures

yeah What It Takes To Move Forward is a favorite
and I can't believe you put More Songs instead of Songs, that's heresy

(also I'm assuming by "emo-revival" you mean midwestern emo and twinkly emo stuff as opposed to emo in terms of a larger umbrella)

Definitely the Snowing full length.

I haven't checked out any of these bands. My idea of what "emo" means is Texas Is the Reason, Braid, early Jimmy Eat World, Sunny Day Real Estate, Mineral, Christie Front Drive, The Promise Ring, Jawbreaker/Jets to Brazil, etc. Would I like anything in this thread?

you'd like everything mentioned in this thread, honestly.

also, you didn't mention American Football, and that is just unforgivable.

My favorites?

Empire! Empire! (I Was a Lonely Estate) - What It Takes To Move Forward, and even though it's a 7"; On Time Spent Waiting
You Blew It! - Grow Up, Dude
Snowing - I Could Do Whatever I Wanted If I Wanted
Dads - American Radass (This Is Important)
Joie De Vivre - The North End and We're All Better Than This

That new album from Dikembe is also very good, and I'm about to check out Grown Ups.

edit: Fuck, I forgot about Glocca Morra's Just Married

Oops. Yeah my bad, OBVIOUSLY they fall in that category too haha. I literally sat staring at my computer screen for like a minute trying to figure what emo band I was obviously forgetting. Mornings suck.

Alright I'mma start with this Empire! Empire! band and The World Is a Beautiful Place because I feel like I've seen the most about them.
