Side Effects [2013, Steven Soderbergh]

Quote:

After a healthy career for the better part of two decades, Steven Soderbergh is now winding down and today we’ve got the first trailer for his (supposed) final theatrical film. Re-teaming with his Contagion and The Informant! writer Scott Z. Burns, his psychological thriller Side Effects looks to be very much in line in terms of style and tone as his last collaboration with the screenwriter.
Set in the world of the pharmaceutical industry, the story finds Dragon Tattoo star Rooney Mara dealing with the aftermath of a dangerous drug. This intriguing first trailer from Yahoo spins a web of lies and mystery in what hopefully is a realistic look (sorry, anyone expecting another Limitless) at such an event. Check it out below for the film also starring Jude Law, Channing Tatum and Catherine Zeta Jones.

i can't say i see much for me in the trailer, but here's to hoping this isn't as bad as it looks.

Is this that one that was called The Bitter Pill?

Looks pretty decent. I'm intrigued.

Bryan Mac 11/02/12 04:25 PM

This looks hilariously awful.

popdisaster00 11/02/12 05:17 PM

Yeah, doesn't look too good.

Soderbergh is one of my favorite directors, so I am very excited about this. The trailer wasn't too great, but I though the same about the one for Magic Mike and I loved that.

Should be another good, but not great Soderbergh film. It is a shame that he is going out on a lower note.

So, his HBO movies won't count as movies? I didn't think he was retiring, just moving to television. Seems to me he's just getting a jump on the inevitable decline of the theatrical film.

No Katherine Heigl's naked bottom and side bosom, no care.

drudo182 11/03/12 04:56 PM

Was interested in this for a number of reasons but the preview isn't very good.

This does not look like the proper swan song for Soderbergh.

The trailer looks shitty, but then again so did the original trailer for Magic Mike and I've heard a lot of people say it was actually pretty good.
