Thursday Discussion: Your Vinyl Holy Grail
Earlier this week, Jason, Thomas, and I (along with various other people) were tweeting back and forth about the potential of a vinyl repress for Brand New's Deja Entendu. The conversation eventually evolved into a discussion of what vinyl records we covet and spawned the idea of this week's discussion thread. So vinyl lovers, what is your holy grail? What's a repressing you'd kill for or how much would you pay for an original pressing? What albums do you wish were actually pressed on vinyl (Cartel's Chroma was a popular answer on Twitter)? Let's get weird.

Repress of Everything In Transit and Futures, please.
|
I have 2 vinyl copies of the Shape of Punk to Come, so I think I'm good.
|
For repressing it would be Coheed's in keeping secrets. For never getting the vinyl treatment I would love Coheed's good Apollo I.

it will never happen, but:

Underoath's define the great line and every time I die's The Big Dirty
The Chariot-the Fiancee |
Would still love to see Lydia's Illuminate pressed  that album still holds up for me
|
The Ataris - 'So Long Astoria' that was the record of my childhood.
|
My two favorite records are Enema of the State and The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me. Enema because it's my favorite album of all time, and TDAG because it's another one of my favorites, plus it's probably the record I own that's worth the most.
I'd love to get my hands on Deja, but I don't have $200 to drop. A repress would be fantastic. |
I have The Devil And God Are Raging Inside Me on red.

This is what I'm aiming to get next. I need it, haha. My favorite record I own on vinyl is either my 3xLP of My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy (not rare or anything, I just love the album) or my Alphabet. Alphabets. LP. (Thanks again to Alex and I hope you press Bad Luck sometime soon) |
Deja Entendu, Chamberlain Waits, Relationship of Command, The Lonesome Crowded West, Fashion Nugget

That new Bacon EP by Anti-Flag.

I'd love to see AFI's Sing The Sorrow repressed for it's 10 year anniversary this year. It's my favorite piece of music ever, and it's a total pain to track down on vinyl these days.
Hoping to see Coheed's Good Apollo 1 pressed eventually. It's the most commendable of the band's catalog and their biggest commercially. Very surprised that it hasn't been pressed yet. i know there were plans not too long ago, but it seems like they fell through. As far as stuff that will probably never happen - I would be so absolutely stoked if either of the 2 Emanuel records got pressed. FATA's stuff too, now that I think about it. Vagrant should make that happen. |
