Oh, Sleeper guitarist James Erwin is leaving the band.

Statement

James here, I come baring bittersweet news. I'm stepping down from Oh Sleeper early next year after our Australia/New Zealand tour. After nearly 7 years, 3 records, an EP, countless tours and endless memories, I'm ready to move on. I'll be forever grateful for the support of our fans. Thank you for everything you've done for us that made this dream a reality. I never deserved this. If I've left any mark on your lives I hope it's this: Never give up on your dreams because they really can come true if work hard and pursue them with everything you've got.

Too bad. Hopefully both the band and the dude will rebound.

Saw headlined, freaked because I thought it was referencing Shane Blay.

Sad news, I'm hopin' that they're gonna find a new guitarist as good as James.

That couldn't happen, haha. There's no Oh, Sleeper without Shane. Hopefully they get a good replacement for James though.

I am curious as to why he said, "I never deserved this." Why would you put yourself down like that? Anyone that works hard deserves the pay off......

Saw these guys last month, tremendous bands and excellent dudes to boot, wish them all the best.
