The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (Webb, 5/2/2014)

It seems like casting is pretty much settled, so I thought it would be proper to create an official thread for the sequel.

The biggest news today is that Dane DeHaan (Chronicle, Lincoln) has joined the cast as Harry Osborn. In addition to DeHaan, Shailene Woodley has joined the cast as Mary Jane Watson. Meanwhile, the film will be headlined by Jamie Foxx as classic villain Electro. Of course, Marc Webb has returned for directing duties and most of the relevant cast members will be returning as well.

Despite releasing this past July, we are less than two years away from a sequel to the first in this new series. Shooting is set to begin in March of next year. Until then, feel free to praise or bitch about the polarizing moves of Sony in here.

Didn't expect DeHaan to be picked. Good actor, I just didn't see him fitting into the role.

The first one was in a difficult position, really. Whilst I feel that it was a technically superior film to the Raimi Spiderman, the fact that that one was obviously released first negated the impact of it somewhat. I'm really looking forward to this though, as it'll now have more of a chance to branch away from that series by not having to do the origin again.

Im excited for this one. Since the reboot was so early, I feel like a lot of people were put off by the first one. I personally found it better than Raimi's. I think since they got the first one out of the way, this one should be a lot more enjoyable.

Andrew Garfield was fine as Peter Parker, its just the rest of the film wasn't very good. I'm hoping for some improvements in the sequel.

Dane DeHaan as Harry? Me likey.

Never heard of Dane, but just by looking at his pictures he looks like he could work as a dark Harry Osborn. What about Norman Osborn? I'm guessing they casted him already so they can pick a Harry that looks like him.

He was in Chronicle and the 3rd season of In Treatment and really good in both.
