"rising son of man"-androids are the creation (son) of man, and japan is the land of the rising sun.
"the future is less certain"- themes in songs about good and evil on celebration rock, also will androids make a utopian future by serving us or an apocalyptic future like in terminator?
"human contact is gone"-cause they aren't human, they are androids.

That's a pretty clever breakdown, and if it's right then it validates my decision never to try figuring out clues that are so dense :-p

Japandroids belong at Bonnaroo though.

I say Bruce because:

Rising Son Of Man = "The Rising"
The Future Was Never Less Certain = "Tomorrow Never Knows"
Human Contact Is Gone = "Human Touch"

Would be interesting if it was Bruce... I might actually have to go for that.

I doubt it's the Japandroids... simply because they're not a big enough act to lead off the first set of clues. In the past it's usually been the headliners/almost headliners that are used in these things.

Saw Bruce at Bonnaroo before.

I'm pretty sure it has to deal with David Bowie, Space Oddity. It breaks the song apart in 3 parts. The liftoff, having no control, and losing contact with earth. I'd put some good money on David Bowie.
