Fall Out Boy - 02.16.05
You guys did a song for the upcoming Police tribute album. Did you guys have
a say on what song you guys did? If so why Roxanne? Uhm our manager called us up and told us, we always loved the guys over at Militia and wanted to work with them so we said okay- but we didn't pick the song (the ones we wanted better bands already had ha-ha)- but hey who can argue with playing a song about a hooker. Are you guy’s big fans of Police? "Mostly, we are, mostly". Yes. The band is also in the middle of recording your new album. How is it going so far? It’s going well. We are almost done with tracking and then we have to pick the songs and order and mix. Anything that is highly influencing the writing of the new album? Just the scene we have come from- I think its funny because everybody either worships us or despises us for a record we wrote four years ago and since then a lot has changed, and a lot has stayed the same.... we have been on tour for almost 300 days in a year and that will definitely affect the way you view the world- we had a chance to interact with some of the coolest people in bands and music and at the same time we got to see the other side of them- which is that most people aren't who they say they are- and we definitely address that on this record- and just what this whole stupid thing has spiraled into and our own part in it- pointing fingers at ourselves for our role in it- we named the record what we did for a reason- and hopefully people will investigate that for themselves. its funny how people only hype this record that it is going to be the biggest thing ever or the biggest letdown ever- and its funny because at the end of the day we are just some kids from the suburbs of chicago who wrote some dumb songs in our parents attic-- you get the chance to read about us on the internet- whether we are vilified or idolized and then people will meet us in real life at a show and realize we are the most ordinary people you will ever know- not assholes but not geniuses either- we are just kind of thrust into an extraordinary situation.... oh yeah and the drugs have influenced us a lot too. ha. Who is producing the new album? Neal Averon. How do you guys take all the violence that has shown up in the music scene lately? I think shows are the one place people should feel safe and should be a sanctuary - when it's not, things get pretty depressing. Fall Out Boy had a great year in 2004, and big plans or anything in the works for 2005? We are working on some tours, the entire warped tour, the fueled by ramen tour, etc. Are there any bands or albums that we should check out? The academy is, panic at the disco, gym class heroes, October fall, the new spitalfield record, new comeback kid record, quicksand (an old band you should know), lifetime (a band every band on this site rips off, including fob), XOskeletons, somegirls, we are lions Who has been your favorite band you've toured with? We loved touring with early november, matchbook romance, the academy is, punchline... Have any crazy stories from the road? Every band has crazy ones I guess. We have some funny ones, involving pubes and pee and all but lets keep this pg (don't worry it was all dude on dude). If you were a hotdog, would you eat yourself? Rip Harry Carry Pete - I'm guessing by the title of your book that you're a big Smiths fan. Any favorite song or album by them? I tend to go with meat is murder- but then if I was to say I would probably say, "viva hate" which although is a Morrissey record- Johnny Marr wrote most of it.... the smiths and Morrissey are rad but just like nightmare before Xmas they will be a lot cooler when its just us losers who are into them again. Then again what do I know? Thanks for the interview.... |
Nice interview.
I interviewed Pete as well-- you guys can read that by clicking the link in my signature if you so choose to. |
It's true, Lifetime is a band that everybody needs to know.
|
is anybody else over fall-out boy trying to prove themselves as scene as possible.
"the smiths and Morrissey are rad but just like nightmare before Xmas they will be a lot cooler when its just us losers who are into them again." who fuckin says that? eat a dick pete. |

You don't see the truth in what he said? I think it's bullshit how people feel the need to censor themselves or to speak their minds so politicly correct so that "dicks" like you won't bash them. The same people who complain about all the little preteens getting into bands like My Chemical Romance and Blink 182 are the same people who think the same type of things Pete just said. He just has the balls to say it. - Jeff |
essentially youre right jeff.

If you were a hotdog, would you eat yourself?
Rip Harry Carry haha...best question ever. |
I like this band...Pete bugs me but he's prob nice.
|
it bugs like mad when people hate on pete even though he is cocky i think he has every right to be have u seen some of the shit he's written? i know i know there are propably do the same thing but hes been the one that i can relate to best he embodies the feeling a despair i get every once in a while (ok fine every 7 hours like clockwork) he is what he is and you telling him shit isnt gonna change a thing
|
i love fall out boy. and you gotta love lifetime.

this interview made me smile, and pete seems like a pretty funny guy on the q&a on the fall out boy website so i liked seeing some (ok not much) seriousness come out of this interview.

i personally love pete and the fob guys. i really hate it when people bag out them and other bands- i mean really- the people who say nasty things ARENT famous or in the music industry. do you really think pete or patrick or joe or andy care if you hate them? NOPE, coz there are so many people who love them and buy their stuff.. for haters- maybe when you're famous then you can sit back and critisize. leave fob alone.

yeah...too many posers...nightmare before Christmas rocks
