Totally agree. Lowborn isn't bad but listening to this reminds me of how much soul and insight Anberlin's older music had.

So does anyone know what happened to the interview that was supposed to go up on this site weeks ago with the band? Was really looking forward to it.

I know a lot of people thought Innocent was a cheesy love song, but Stephen revealed it's actually about his grandfather dying. Does that change it all for you? I know for some people it probably...

Just a heads up - you can buy Unstable on iTunes without buying the whole album, which I just did. Props to iTunes for not making it an album-exclusive as I had expected!

Anyone know of sites that have lyrics up already? Am very curious to see them. I've Googled but haven't found nothing. I assume it's just too early for them.

I might be the rarity who thinks NS was the natural step from Cities. Cities was very dark and introspective; a lot of NS is melancholic and full of longing, which makes sense. I'm glad they never...

Agreed - one of the few tracks on NS that I really didn't like. The lyrics aren't bad or anything, it's just kinda hard to get into. No real rhythm for me.

These thoughts are interesting. I've always liked Anberlin's slower songs better - Dance Dance, Inevitable, for example - so I'm glad to hear this isn't just heavy hit after heavy hit.

I love those albums so I wouldn't really mind if it ends up my 4th favorite Anberlin album.

I'm only concerned about its staying power. A lot of us, including me, LOVED Dark at first listen but over time, grew disappointed. Now I know what to look out for (for me it was only the...

How's it in terms of repetition of lyrics, all? That's what killed Dark for me. Only so many times I can hear "CLOSER CLOSER CLOOOOSSEEERRRRRRRR"/ songs that have two lines in between choruses.

I found it to and only listened to a about 45 seconds total before I decided to hold off. I'd much rather wait to hear the whole album, front to back, all at once... I don't really like downloading...

I think this is really true. Cities is awesome but we (Ill include myself here) have to let Vital be it's own album. I started loving NS once I stopped expecting it to be Cities, Part 2.

Cities or Never Take Friendship Personal. Easily the best 2 albums they've put out though I'm a fan of New Surrender as well.

Ah, ok, cool. They've always been a chorus heavy band so I think I understand. Thanks for the reply.

Awesome review Jack, and one that has me even more hyped for the album. Just one question: why a 7.5 for the lyrics (Not that that's a bad score or anything by any means)? Could you elaborate on that...

One of my personal favorites. Barlights, All The Pretty Girls, and Benson Hedges are all such great jams.
