Death By Audio makes a bunch of unorthodox pedals. They've got a ton, but this pedal called the Total Sonic Annihilation, it might be up your alley.

I wouldn't disqualify standard effects. Rather, I get a lot of different noises by combining distortion, delays (especially those with lots of modulation options), pitch modulation, and sometimes a ring modulator (apparently I like to modulation of all kinds). Multiple delays running into each other in particular can get some really awesome noises. Currently, I have a Boss DD20, Boss D7, and an Electro-Harmonix Memory Boy (which has lots of cool sounds), which by themselves is what I use the most, and then add other effects here and there. The bottom line is to take time to experiment with what you already have.

I think Boss makes a feedback pedal.

So, basically, I'm looking for unorthodox pedals - no distortion, reverb, etc.

Specifically, I want a noise pedal (if such a one exists) - kind of like a random noise generator but in pedal form. I'm sure they're out there, even if they only exist because nerds like myself figure out how to build them.

Anyway, does anyone know of such a thing or of anything close to it? It'd be a big help if I could be pointed in the right direction.
Fender makes a feedback pedal which looks pretty fun, i keep one setting on my line six dl4 delay to an infinite delay for noise as well. I see someone already mentioned the fm4 which is great for random effects too. Once you get into smaller pedal manufacturers and boutique builders, the sky's the limit

this is a really cool glitch/fuzz/noise pedal

I might have to look into getting one of those. Another pedal similar to that one is the JHS synth drive pedal. It's a modded Boss DS-1 with 3 oscillators, level, drive, and oscillation controls. I traded an old pedal of mine for one a few months ago, and I thought it wouldn't be any more than a toy but it's actually pretty practical.

you might want to check some brands called Malekko and LovePedal. They both make some really nice boutique products. Also, Whampler makes some tight-sounding shit as well.

i'd love to hear what delay, pitch mod and ring mod all sound like together. got a vid?

You might like trying out an octave fuzz pedal and to play your favorite blues licks through it. That sound is totally hot in the Brooklyn Scene for some reason.
