An American Gangster sound paired with relevant lyricism would work great with the setting, I think.

As much as a respect Jay-Z there is kind of an "uh oh" feeling with this news. Then again, it may just suit such a crazy book. Gatsby WAS a mysterious and impulsive character, after all..

I wonder if this is why they pushed the movie back so much; It was supposed to come out Christmas day, not its set for sometime in may.

This doesn't bode well. Baz Luhrmann was already considered a poor direction choice, and decisions like this are only validating that.
