Here are the rules:

Here's how to fill out your ballot. For example, looking at the Best Actor category:

Bradley Cooper, "Silver Linings Playbook"
Daniel Day-Lewis, "Lincoln"
Hugh Jackman, "Les Miserables"
Joaquin Phoenix, "The Master"
Denzel Washington, "Flight"

You will reorganize the choices into a list, with #1 being the actor you think will win, and #5 being the actor you think is LEAST likely to win, like so:

1. Daniel Day-Lewis, "Lincoln"
2. Joaquin Phoenix, "The Master"
3. Bradley Cooper, "Silver Linings Playbook"
4. Denzel Washington, "Flight"
5. Hugh Jackman, "Les Miserables"

If Daniel Day-Lewis wins the Oscar, you'll get 5 points. If Joaquin Phoenix wins, you get 4 points, and so on. The person with the most points is the winner. In the event of a tie, I've included three tiebreaker questions.

This year, as I'm moving and going back to school and thus BROKE, the prize is pretty simple. I will accept donations (see how to do that below), and all the money that is donated is the prize. I will send it to the winner via PayPal or a gift card, their choice.

To make a donation, please send a PayPal payment to thomasjameswells@yahoo.com. Be sure to include your AP.net username and that the payment is for the 2013 Oscar Pool in the note section of the donation. I will be listing the donors and how much they gave right here.

This sounds like a lot of fun, but do you really anticipate that any of the people on this board will donate money.

I would be willing to donate some prizes (DVDs, CDs, posters, etc...) but I don't really have expendable income to donate to this...

That being said, maybe we could donate prizes and it could be like "Doug Loves Movies" (if you're familiar with that podcast) and there could just be a big ass prize bag... I guess shipping everything would be the issue, but maybe you could just get anyone who donates a prize, to agree to ship it directly to the winner?!?!

Just a thought, I'd probably prefer to win cash, but I can't imagine that many people will donate money

People have in past years. Prize last year was $25, I think.

That's not too bad. I guess even if people only donate $5 it could add up.
