Hey.
So I've written for a couple of music blogs before but nothing too serious. I can't play an instrument worth a damn, but I think I'm an okay writer. Writing takes discipline, and dedication, so I've combined two of my greatest loves with an ambitious project.
It's an idea that's been done before, so I'm recycling it. But I figured some of you on here may appreciate it.
It's called
One Record Per Day.
Concept is simple: every day, I listen to an album the whole way through, no skips or shuffling. Then I write about it. No template, no arbitrary word threshold. Free form, and I try to stay on the topic of the band.
I gave 358 albums that I own a number after putting them in alphabetical order and then used a random number generator to mix it up. The remaining 7 of the albums will be Christmas-themed for the end of this year.
I'm 28 days in as of today, and finding out that my random number generator blew. I've already written twice about Every Time I Die and Panic at the Disco but not once about Radiohead, and I own 8 of their albums.
The genres are all over the place so far. In the last week, I've written about Underoath, Herbie Hancock, Com Truise and Hellogoodbye.
Anyway, check it out, or don't. I was skeptical about even posting on here because this is a genuine, well-intentioned project that I'm taking seriously and I know that all the little kids on AP can be brutal in their responses. The internet machine can be truly harsh.
As such, it would mean a lot to me if any of you were to check it out or had feedback.
Thanks.
