Last night to end the regular set they played a version of "I Heard You Looking" that was prolly around fifteen minutes long and featured members of Calexico on pedal steel, vibraphone, additional percussion and organ. About 2/3 of the way through the song, Ira went fucking ballistic during a solo like he does and start flailing his guitar around and untuning it until it was just total dissonance while he did some crazy whammy bar stuff. Then he after building up a ton of feedback he set it on top of the amp, a roadie was there with another guitar and he grabbed it and continued the solo.

It was the greatest thing I'd ever witnessed probably.

i caught em in Nashville this past weekend, where they played two sets and an encore. incredible show. the Story of Yo La Tengo live was incredible, and Ira is insane to see play guitar live.

Yeah it's a really interesting concept isn't it. Very self involved but still cool none the less.

yeah it's more of an observation than a code of ethics, i think. like quantum suicide or something.

most songs are even kinda better. if you liked it, check out that whole album- Legs to Make Us Longer. she sings on some records and has a couple that are almost entirely instrumental. i'd recommend Dreaming of Revenge and the new one, Glow.
