Help me out here AP. What are some fiction books that you enjoy? Authors that I should be aware of?

I'm partial to hardboiled detective fiction from the Golden Age. Anything by Agatha Christie, Rex Stout, Mickey Spillane, Dashiell Hammett, Raymond Chandler, etc. That's really all I read, so my recommendations end there.

Justin Cronin, he's in the middle of some really well-received trilogy, right? I feel like I've been hearing that name quite a bit lately.

Yeah, the second book of his vampire trilogy came out in October.

I really liked the first two books: The Passage and The Twelve

Final book comes out in 2014.

Have you read Stephen King's The Stand or anything by Cormac McCarthy?

John Dies at the End and This Book is Full of Spiders were both really fun reads

Less than Zero and American Psycho by Bret Easton Ellis are two of my favorite books of all time

Same here. American Psycho made me physically sick reading, but it was terrific.

Well jeez, give us some hints.
What types of fiction are you looking for?
I'll give you some good authors, but answer that question, first.

Well, I say just fiction because I'm open to it. I enjoy dark / adult fiction such as Bret Easton Ellis, Chuck Palahnuik, Hubert Selby Junior

I enjoy sci fi esque fiction, but not over the top, intergalatic missions kind of stuff. I enjoy work by Vonnegut, Daniel Keyes, H.G Wells, etc.

And finally everything by John Green.

The late Ray Bradbury.
Wrote a lot of sci-fi

(not the far-out galaxy stuff, more like alternate earth futures).
Try his short stories so you can get an idea before you start his novels.

My personal favorites:
-All Summer in a Day
-There Will Come Soft Rains

If you like John Green, you should read It's Kind of a Funny Story by Ned Vizzini or The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky, assuming you haven't already.

I enjoy his work but I've never read those. Will do.
