Very broad range of music that doesn't quite fit with all these other mixtapes but it sure does get me hyped.

Just shipped this one out to one of my closest friends. I started working on it a month ago (I had to look for bands I'd never heard of because our music tastes clash a bit), and it looks nothing like the draft from December, but I'm happy with how it turned out. My only qualm is that I couldn't find songs that really fit my theme, and I didn't want to be too forward with my feelings. In hindsight, I wish I used a couple of the ones that I could really relate to.

I've literally grown up with this kid. He means the world to me. I wanted to sum up our highs and lows, and also get across the stuff that I'm not good at verbalizing. Hopefully he likes it :3

Congratulations on everything! I'm just wondering, though. Why use "Wasting Away?" It seems pretty negative compared to the message behind the mix. It's still a great song/mix, though!

I actually don't think the song is negative. For me, "Wasting Away" is about watching yourself almost give up on everything, and then deciding that that's not how it's going to be. In particular, the lyrics "Don't tell me it's too hard, you were never there from the start. I'm not about to give this up." and "And I never wished for anything more than to find what I've been looking for. And I swore to myself I wouldn't lie to myself, how could I let this happen?"

The guy I was dating lived in New Jersey, and was very unhappy with my decision to go back to school, and that I accepted the offer to manage a friend's band. He really wanted me to move there, and spent months making me feel incredibly guilty for trying to pursue the dreams I've had since WAY before he was in the picture. He was selfish, jealous, and attempted to be very controlling. So the song is just really personal to me in that respect. A cautious tale, and a spot of hope.
