Surprised at the negativity. I think it's at least on par with War Paint.

I've enjoyed it. Miles Apart is one of their best songs. Will never surpass the first two records though. The end of Anchor as well... no no no.
What exactly is so bad about the end of Anchor?

Stoked to hear this record. I've followed this band trough their previous releases which are quality records. Energy, lyrics and simple, very well constructed songs! Hope that their new release brings more of the same

After listening to this album in full over 10 times, I must disagree which is rare since I typically think Drew is spot on.... I loved TDS first 2 full lengths. Thought the musicianship was great, emotionally charged and just melodramatic to listen to, which I love. The thing that I simply cannot get into on this record is the vocal performance. I typically love emotional yells, etc. but it is way to excessive for me. I feel like the whole concept of singing was completely thrown out the window on this record. Call it whatever you like, but its just not for me.
Sadly I agree. The revisited version of Sins they released was awesome though! The vocals were slowed down and sang pretty cleanly.

Love the vocals, don't get all the fuss.

Yeah, there's only, like, maybe a couple spots where the vocals bother me even a little.

Vocals only really bother me on We Will Wait In The Fog... They work fine everywhere else.

"Miles Apart" is my favorite song by far. It just speaks to me on that molecular level and reminds me why I listen to this kind of music to begin with.

"Catholic Girls" has grown on me a ton. I think "We Will Wait In the Fog" is my least favorite on the record now.

I've never been a huge TDS fan in the past so maybe I just don't have the same expectations as others, but I don't understand the hate towards the vocals on this. They sound different than before, but I like them.
This album is really solid overall. The first two tracks are the highlights, but there's really no bad songs on it.

better than 0, but im sure they were looking for bigger numbers than that..

This is one of the all-time worst threads to read, but I surprisingly couldn't stop haha!
On point, this album is better than a lot of people have stated. Mainly due to comparisons to their past records.
Things that work great:
- Catholic Girls & Anchor (pretty close to their best two songs so far)
- Sticking to what works well
- More grinding and more edgy guitars which work well
Things that didn't work so well:
- Somewhat repetitive
- Only 10 songs, I hate albums being so small but that being said, I wouldn't want 3 more fillers
- Into the Comfort & I'm So Pathetic (two of their lesser songs written so far, that's why they're 8 and 9 on the album)
Things for next album if there is one:
- Finding new sounds, guitars & vocals predominantly
- Incorporating some quality slower songs which aren't filler
- Organising the album into an order which flows
RFTS 9 > War Paint 8.5 > Golden Record 7.5

I only remember "I'm So Pathetic," "Sins," and "Catholic Girls."
