I HATE the sound of Stingrays, Subs and almost every model Musicman makes. No midrange and tons of annoying "PING" to them that masks the the vocal and guitar range. Why the everlasting fuck anyone would seek that sound for anything that falls under rock music is beyond my immediate understanding of mankind. Just get a Fender or something in that ballpark and you'll be fine, if you're somewhat into the Musicman sound (shame on you) get one of Fender's active basses (Dan Adriano of Alkaline Trio's sound).
