Alright... wow. I regularly check this website but have never registered because I didn't care to post anything. But this has outraged me. I would highly reccomend some of the voters that submitted their votes for the modern eras such as the 90s and 00s listen to some of the following. Fleetwood Mac, The Grateful Dead, THE BEATLES (They aren't still the biggest band in the world 30 years after they broke up for no reason), Neil Young, Jimi Hendrix, Bob Dylan, Simon and Garfunkel, Pink Floyd, Queen, Tom Petty, The Who, and many more classic rock type bands. Not only can these artists successfully perform their recorded songs live without butchering them onstage, (unlike many modern bands) The level of musicianship was much, much, much, much better (They didn't have Protools and auto-tune to fix all the shit they sucked at). Also, the artists I before mentioned song's actually had MEANING, and weren't primarily about breaking up with their girlfriends or how she's a bitch now or whatever. Not to say that all modern bands are like this. Anyway, I'm not trying to be rude towards anyone who isn't a fan of the 60s and 70s or knock modern music. I am a fan of many, many modern bands, and I understand everyone is entitled to their own opinion but I only hope some people may reconsider their musical respect for certain eras.

Abbey Road/the white album/Let It Be.

The last was technically 1970, but it was recorded in '68, so we'll let it slide. Besides, the others average it out to the 60's anyway.

if you are a true music fan, do yourself a favor and listen to bands from the 60's and 70's also. those bands were much more innovative and creative then 99% of the bands in this decade. no offense, but im starting to realize how closed minded a lot of young people are today with the music of today opposed to the good old stuff.

I really am offended by this, sorry. I personally hate the stereotype that young people have poor taste in music. I have listened to many artists from decades before my time and I just don't really like their music. I'm not talking about liking Lil' Wayne, or anything like that. I'm talking about listening to legitimate bands like Death Cab For Cutie, Bright Eyes, Modest Mouse, and modern Radiohead. As time progresses, so does music, and I'm a fan of the good music being produced in the current decade because it's something different. Music from the 60's and 70's has grown so redundant, really. The oldest band that I really listen to is the Smiths, because they were actually good.

i wasnt saying that you had "poor" taste in music. i just think the classic music that started everything goes unrecognized by most young people nowadays. i was respecting everything you said until you said music from the 60's and 70's has grown so redundant and basically saying the Smiths were the only actually good band. apparently youve never listened to or respected the music of pink floyd, the beatles, or anything else from the 60's or 70's.

To quote Stephan Jenkins, "I'm interested in what's going on right now."

Music from the 90's will always have a place in my heart. However, many of the bands that debuted during the 90's have gone on to put out some of my favorite music the following decade.

Pink Floyd is decent, but I honestly haven't listened to them in enough detail to judge.
The Beatles, however, I have listened to plenty and know they are overrated.

They produced music that I find to be pretty good, but far from the godly praise they get.
Some songs are great, but others I can't stand to listen to.

But you have to realize when these songs were being made and what other bands were doing at the time.
