I didn't realize before there were 6 Method 1 Kecleons, so I did have some left after all. I got this one today Careful Female 23/21/31/19/30/25. I kept hitting the frame directly after it, but finally I pulled it off.

Sure, it's quite simple actually. As you probably know, Emerald's RNG runs in the same pattern every time you restart the game. This allows you to simply calibrate, pick your spread, and reset for the spread you picked. You simply approach the Method 1 Pokemon at the correct time after game restart (use a stopwatch), and you will get the spread you are looking for.

Before you start, simply read this guide. This allows you to RNG for the Pokemon on the list they give you, those which are given IVs according to Method 1. Although they have listed a few spreads, download the .csv file they refer to (File) which lets you browse all possible spreads up to 100000.

Some words of wisdom. Each of the different Pokemon is going to have a different delay associated with encountering it. Some Pokemon, like Voltorb don't have any special animations or words, so if you just approach them at the time shown on the spreadsheet, you are probably going to be pretty close to getting it. Some others, however, you will have to calibrate so that you actually start the battle at the time listed on the sheet.

Take Kecleon, for example. The Kecleon spread I got this morning was 2051 and it occurs at 34.18 seconds after reset. Now, when you approach the Kecleon, it takes some time to go through it's little animation, so if you wait until 34.18 seconds to first hit the A button, you will end up being way late. So what you need to do is figure out how much time it takes to go through the animation, and backtrack accordingly. As it turned out, if I first hit the A button so start the action at ~28.4 seconds, I would get very close to the correct spread. Once that was figured out, it was simple trial and error. Generally I hit almost every nearby spread before getting the one I want, lol.

So yeah. Biggest thing is to at first calibrate, check each one you catch and see where you land on the big sheet of spreads. That will tell you how to shift your timing to approach what you want. Outside of that it's just soft resetting and hitting what you want. You can get to an online stopwatch by googling 'online stopwatch', lol.

VOLTORB. Great idea.

And this is the same for all Emerald games?

I might have to just try this tomorrow. I don't have long tonight before Law and Order SVU comes on. And how do I figure out what frame shinies are?

This thing does seem reliabale. All the spreads I'm getting show up on the spreadsheet. Now it's just a matter of hitting it right. It's about 32 with delay, I think. It calculates when the patterns show up.

I'm going for the 38.30 one.

Yeah, same for all Emerald games. I just did Voltorb because I could, lol. I don't really plan on doing a Rain Dance team anytime soon, but I guess if I ever need one I'll have a Voltorb to breed with.

For shiny frames you need your SID. I don't have mine (not too bothered since everything good has been caught), so I'm not exactly sure what you do once you know your SID. If you know yours, I'll go look into finding your shiny frame if you'd like.

Yeah, the spreadsheet is definitely legit. Good luck getting your spread! The only time I used the 38.30 one was for Groudon, but it's a good choice for other stuff too.

Never posted in here but I thought I would fill you guys in on the fact that the Jirachi event is going to be a Gamestop exclusive and it will start late February. The 28th I think, actually. Source is th guy who works at the Gamestop I went to today to buy a DS. Picked up Platinum as well and a full preorder on SoulSilver... hoping the Generation 4 games are good lol.

EDIT: And if this is old news, I apologize. I know Serebii has no idea when the event is so I figured noone else did either.

I could find my SID, but I don't know how. I can post my shiny odish's IVs though...

I just need to figure out the delay. Its around 6 seconds, but not exactly. It's hard to gauge when to go....

First I've heard about it. Thanks.

We should post something here when this is on.

No problem. And supposedly if you trade it to HG/SS it unlocks an area in the Pokewalker.

It's an awesome little device that comes bundled with HeartGold/SoulSilver. It's a pedometer based gadget that wirelessly syncs to the game cartridge itself. Basically, first thing you do is transfer a Pokemon from your HG/SS game to the device. Then, you put it on your belt and go about your day. As you walk, you gather 'watts'. Those watts can then be used to access minature areas, each containing four patches of grass, which contain wild Pokemon like in the regular games. The more watts you collect, te better areas you unlock, and the more costly areas have rarer pokemon. You use the Pokemon you stored in the device to battle the wild Pokemon(battles are much more simplified; due to obvious graphical limitations, the mini sprite you see in the 'party menu' represent the Pokemon. Each pokemon has 4 HP, and you have the option to 'Attack', 'Dodge', or 'Catch'. The Pokemon caught on the Pokewalker can then be transferred to the HG/SS games themselves.

Some of the Pokemon on the Pokewalker are going to be otherwise unavailable in HG/SS, so it seems. I think it's going to be awesome.

Wow, that's pretty awesome. If you run, do you run the risk of breaking it?

I'm not sure but I would doubt it. I think this is Nintendos way of getting fat kids off their couch and make them run for their Pokemon haha.

Nice deal. I'll have to get that eventually.

It's 10 bucks more on top of the game, not sold seperately. Cool device though. Technically, and this is purely theoretical, you could attach it to a rumble pack or some other vibrating household object and they'd level up to 100 fast. I plan on trying to hook mine on my stereo speakers or something like that.

So wait... is it or is it not included with the game? Because I put down 42 something dollars altogether for my preorder so it better be included lol. And from what I understand the Pokewalker doesn't actually level up your Pokemon at all unless I'm mistaken.
