Nice to see the Buster Olney campaign worked. Verlander had a very nice season, highlighted by a couple amazing performances early on in the season that annointed him Cy Young before we'd even reached the break, allowing plenty of time to write the MVP narrative.

Bautista should have got it.

Of course. But any sane person knows the difference between a real tragedy and when someone exaggerates with a word like that for something that in the grand scheme of things, doesn't matter.

I find it hard to be worked up about any of the voting. This happens every year and given that we're in the data recording age, no one's going to get forgotten. Not like in 40 years someone's going to go "you know, that Jose Bautista was pretty good in 2011. Too bad nobody noticed."

Verlander, 969 times.

I'm not trying to argue one over the other, but I don't get the whole pitcher vs. batter for mvp title nonsense.

Cy Young is the best pitcher. We have a best reliever. We have the best fielders at each position. We have the best hitters at each position. Why can MVP only go to a batter?

I mean obviously Ellsbury and Bautista were better regardless, but I'm just saying.
