It starts with tracking - not sure what you're using as far as interface or line in but ideally you'd want a Bass->DI Box->decent preamp->LIGHT compression->computer.
In mix, you apply a bit more compression. Running a high pass filter on either bass or the kick drum would probably help as well but each is going to sound a little different than the other, so try them out.
Generally speaking EQ is something you want to go light on - if you have to go heavy you're probably not getting the sound you want out of the bass in tracking. Pay careful attention to your tone. Good luck! |
