Streetlight Manifesto - Keasbey Nights

Reviewed by: Brandon Allin (05/16/06)
Streetlight Manifesto - Keasbey Nights
Release Date: March 7, 2006
Record Label: Victory Records

This record contains no new material. It is a re-recording of 1998's Keasbey Nights, as performed by Streetlight Manifesto.

There is absolutely no way of explaining the existence of the record your eyes are exploring without somehow offending, infuriating, confusing, or alienating certain parties, so I won't even try. Please enjoy this for what it is.

This is all that needs to be said; all other words seem foolish. To read my review of the original Keasbey Nights, please refer to this link.

you're right, enjoy it for what it is. it has better horns, the voices is different...it's neat to own, but the original is the original.

I think Tomas and the gang just figured that seeing as how they spent so much time on the actual recording of the music, and put such a huge amount of effort into the songs again, that the artwork doesn't really matter.

This disc could be packaged as a CD-R with a post-it-note label, and it would still stand as one of my absolute favourite albums of all time.

I'm not sure if you're a huge fan of the original or if it's just another album in your collection, but this new version is actually really great. I'm also unsure of whether not you've had the chance to hear it, but if you are a big fan of the first one, i'd suggest picking this one up. The new solo's are excellent, the addition to the bridge of Dear Sergio is fantastic, and some of the songs sound much better in their new form.

But, that is all just my opinion. Thank you for your input.

Well, I wouldn't say "no" new material. You get little things, like BOTAR's Dear Sergio.. these are the things that the review should talk about. You're right about it being the worst review ever, but only because you're really lazy here. It doesn't have to be.

Original is better in my opinion. I would maybe rate the new one as a 7.5 at the most. A couple of songs sound better, but overall the raw original sound is more enjoyable.

Catch 22's Keasbey Nights is to ska what Thursday's Full Collapse is to emocore.. coincidentally they're both from North Jersey.

You're aware that almost everything in the review appears inside the CD packaging as well, right? All I've done is agree with what the band had to say, because I whole-heartedly agree with just that. Call it laziness if you must, but I don't believe anything else needs to be said.

Excellent review...flat out there's nothing that could be written towards ska fans that would give them any new information on the album.

It's a re-recording of one of the best ska albums of all time.

It's awesome.
