Both shows plummeted back to earth quickly and unexpectedly for me, that's for sure. The Office I consider much further gone, though; there's no getting back to the greatness it once had. I often see flashes of the HIMYM era I used to adore, it just never gets there for more than a few minutes or so. |
I disagree with this opinion of the show. Himym novelty simply wore off after the third/ fourth season and that has happened to every sitcom/comedy except friends. Friends avoided it by revamping the moment ross and rachel broke up..........and stayed broken up until the end,.
The office fell apart the moment jim and pam got married/had a baby because they were the endgame of the show. Their marriage simultaneously killed both characters plots and made it difficult to write them and keep them interesting. Most office fans would even tell you jim and pam were the reason they loved the show and not Micheal.
Jim and pam should have been played out a little longer instead of giving them a marriage and a baby in the same freaking season.
Himym is still the same show it was since season 2, it's just that their characters have changed so much since then.
Marshall and lily matured and started a family
robin became a career woman
barney ended his womanizing way and became more like ted
Ted........well, he hasn't changed if you forget the fact he selfishly broke up two marriages for his own gain.
The mother plot is the only thing that keeps the story fresh at this point in the game.
