The film shoots in June, Joaquin Phoenix confirmed, the Weinsteins are distributing it.

I am so glad this got off the ground. Kind of bummed Phoenix got cast as I can't see him in the role at all. Whilst I was reading the script, I thought Renner was perfect. Renner has eighteen franchises now, though. Bummer.

I'm just glad this is getting made. I haven't read the script, but Phoenix has talent, so I'm cool with it.

There's tremendous cinematic potential in the history of Hubbard and Dianetics/Scientology (see Russell Miller's Hubbard bio "Bare-Faced Messiah"). This should be a great film.

Mihai Malaimare Jr. who shot Coppola's Youth Without Youth . Tetro and Twixt Now and Sunrise is shooting this. Amazing. I was anticipating news of who the cinematographer would be and I can't say I am disappointed. I can see this guy becoming almost as sought after Emmanuel Lubezki after shooting this one.

It's also confirmed that they are shooting parts of it on 65mm. Between this and Peter Jackson shooting The Hobbit at 48 fps, it is going to be an exciting couple of years for cinematography.
