I don't think last.fm has been promoted yet.

You can give free downloads, and interact directly with people you know like your genre of music. Since last.fm tracks all of your library and listening habits, bands are able to see who you like, and connect to people who like their RIYL bands.
Also, once the word is out among those who have similar artists in their library, you can interact with your listeners simply by visiting your band page.

the first is less fancy designed and slower to work with, but seems to have better and more responsive people than the latter. there's also punx.com, but i wouldn't recommend it. you could post stuff on there, but they needa work on sorting out their site a lot

http://www.tunecore.com is an awesome resource to get your music in pretty much any online distributor (From iTunes to Amazon).

It also has a widget that you can post on your websites that allows people to listen to your music... it has a link directly to your iTunes store... Awesome!
