My site, http://hearhearmusic.com, was built to provide as much press for up-and-coming / unsigned bands as I give to artists who are already signed. Feel free to email me at kroessman@gmail.com if you're a band and you have:

a) an album to promote for review only (send me a digital download .. I won't share it)
b) a single you'd like to promote ... and are willing to allow me to post, along with bio material
c) if you're interested in doing an interview, we can talk, but I'd still need to hear your music first.

If you email me, just please mention Hear Hear in your subject line so I can archive your email separate from everything else :)

I listen to as much music as I can, and try to respond to everything I receive, even if it's not going to make it onto the site. I know how important feedback is for independents.

Rock on, this thread is awesome!

EDIT: Also, please try to read through some of my site's reviews to get an idea if you're a good fit ... screaming metal 99% of the time won't make the site, just so you're aware :) There's got to be at least some sense of melodic structure or hook to get my attention :)

weeklyindie.com is pretty cool.

Their thousands of subscribers get 10 songs a week. You can submit your music, and they pay (well) if they select your band for distribution.

Check it!

You can upload songs at http://www.bandsoup.com and we have an affiliated blog that I do.

I also have a blog: http://www.whiskeyteeth.com -- I mostly cover indie hip hop, but I'm open to other genres.

Everything you will ever need! Using these resources I was able to grow my Facebook following from 2,000 to over 100,000 in about a year. ]I am extremely passionate about online marketing, and would love to help out anyone who needs advice. What I ask in return is that you simply "like" said Facebook page in exchange for my time, but only if you actually enjoy it

I would also like to suggest that you should all research SEO a bit. At the very least you should set yourself up like a business and get listed in all of the directories (Yahoo, Google, etc.). Whenever you update your blog etc. you should make sure to ping the site.

Our band (The Cozyrs) has been on Jango Radio for the past few months. You've gotta pay them to play your music - but they play your songs alongside similar artists that you choose yourself. Listeners can become fans of your music, share their e-mail addresses with you, etc.

http://airplay.jango.com/music+promotion

We also tried Facebook ads - but that didn't seem worth it for what we got out of it.

Does anyone know of other sites that run Free Music Friday-type promotions? The most downloads we've ever had came from the Free Music Friday we were part of a few months ago - and we continue to get the occasional download from that thread. We've searched but can't find any other site that promotes unknown, unsigned bands the way AbsolutePunk.net does.
