even this band's logo is a fucking rehash. |
an M? I didn't know it was possible to plagiarise letters.

11:38 AM on 07/16/10 | PS the number score which I just noticed is ridiculous. |
I agree. This review is a joke. Agree or not I think this was not taken seriously at all, but I guess we're all entitled to our own opinions.

11:40 AM on 07/16/10 | Dude... Why are all of the editors of AP such ******s... all of you bash music just because its mainstream. All of the music that you guys post on this website sounds like music that someone would put on in the background if they were to drink cyanide and have autoerotic asphyxiation. How do you guys go through out your day listening to garbage like that .. do you feel miserable? To say that this cd is terrible is absolutely ridiculous. Its catchy, the lyrics are creative, funny, true, and can be interpreted in a number of ways. Like ... seriously ...
Although this album is garbage, i do love this post. Everyone on this board works so hard to get there 'Street Cred' by proclaming a complete shit band, great. Its almost as humerous as going to a show and watching men walk in like a pack of wolves with their v-necks, baseball caps and skinny jeans. You do realize you look like a dumbass correct? Also, i have always wondered, do any of these self proclaimed writers for Absolutepunk.net play an instrument? i cant imagine how awesome my life would be sitting behind a computer and writing reviews critiquing something i do not specialize in. I guess i am as cool as them right now... Guess i will go analyze Derek Jeter's swing. |
Thank you for saying this, I agree completely..

i am assuming your name is in reference to the band. If so, fantastic choice.

11:46 AM on 07/16/10 | Don't know how these two things really relate at all. My point is simple: I didn't like the first, I was excited for this, it sucked.
Comparing scores isn't really accurate. In retrospect, the Amber Pacific album should have been scored much lower.
Because they're a big band and I was looking forward to hearing the record.....it sucked though, so I wrote what I thought. OH WHOOPS looks like I just did my job. Sorry guy.
You're a moron.
I really like Homesick. Call me a fanboy but that record is in the high 80s for me. That rating was an unbiased one where I try to put a real score on it for people who had never heard it.
I've mentioned members before. It's an intimate community, that's one thing that makes it special. Reviewers do that all the time. I had no writer's block, I actually had to choose between three different general directions to take for this review. |
...I was defending your review and you call me a moron? I was ridiculing the guy who couldn't understand why you wrote a negative review for a band he thought you didn't like.
Quote: | Why go out of your way to write a review for a band you dont like? Dumbass. |
then I said:

OH JESUS CHRIST SOMEONE STATED THEIR OPINION AND IT JUST HAPPENED TO BE A NEGATIVE ONE.
EVERYONE LEAVE IN PANIC. |
I don't understand your logic, or the unnecessary insult. Asshole.

11:49 AM on 07/16/10 | save the drama for wilmer valderama an M? I didn't know it was possible to plagiarise letters. |
...or the font and overall design? don't be so fucking dense.

...he said repeatedly that he was excited for the album, and was let-down.
Thank you for saying this, I agree completely.. |
are you also that dense?

12:10 PM on 07/16/10 | How were you 'excited' to hear the record when you already admitted to strongly disliking them beforehand? I think you just arent a fan of this entire genre at all,in which case you shouldnt be writing a review for this album.

"That advertising campaign worked wonders over me and after hearing the rock and roll-driven "Inside of You", I began to really and truly anticipate hearing this record. I was hoping for a record full of catchy rock songs, even if they all had pointless and painstakingly terrible lyrics"
he made that fairly clear.

12:12 PM on 07/16/10 | Three okay songs, two kind of okay songs, five terrible songs. Seems about right. |
The songs they cowrote are the weakest ones. I think "Right Girl" has it's moments but could have been way better.

Reading comprehension doesn't seem to be anyone's strong suit around here so I wouldn't get too bent out of shape over it...

12:24 PM on 07/16/10 | I enjoy ADTR's Homesick, but I can't listen to it for long. It's fun, yes, but fun doesn't denote it being a good album.
The Maine's new record isn't good by most standards, but I don't listen to them for lyrical merit or a musical mindfuck. I listen to them because it's fun, summery music.
Every song with the exception of the last song on Homesick is structurally the same, and the choruses could be swapped out on every song. |
Gotta disagree about ALL of Homesick's song structures (although a lot of songs get same-y to be sure). Mr. Highway is a notable exception, along with Have Faith In Me.
|
12:26 PM on 07/16/10 | I thought it was a good pop-rock CD especially for the summer. Definitely better 40% ...
