I hadn't had the chance to listen to Red until now because I've been trying to catch up on the internet from when I was in Seattle for a couple days seeing Rufus Wainwright (yes, I am bragging. He was amazing), but it's just okay to me. I liked some parts, but wasn't a fan of her deeper voice and the weird repetition of red in the background. I think I will like it better in the context of the whole album, if that makes sense. I'm already loving these songs more than Speak Now, which I wasn't crazy about. Begin Again still my fav so far.

16 tracks is too many... unless its final duration is less than 50 minutes, and if they're all solid songs. the last time i was excited for a pop album with a ton of tracks was the self titled Hilary Duff album. there was so much filler on that record that it completely ruined the album for me. so hopefully Taylor just realized she had way too many solid songs to leave any off... we'll see.

Yeah I'm not crazy about the length either.. but it is possible that there are just that many good songs. But SN dragged on at points, especially with some 6 minute songs. Any album that reaches near 60 minutes is just too long unless there's some instrumental/orchestral type stuff. There's always a possibility some of these tracks aren't songs as much as segues into the next track and such though.

some little segues would be interesting. but i think we can safely assume (after Speak Now's length) that these will most likely be full songs. I just hope there aren't a couple long ass songs on here, making this peak over an hour long, like you were saying. I guess we'll see what happens when the time comes. But regardless, i will be buying the Target edition. Even if half of the tracks were bonus tracks, I'd still buy the deluxe version that has as many as songs as i can get. hahaha.

Yeah same here haha. I love getting as many tracks as i can, but for some reason it makes a huge difference to me if it's album content or bonus content. Just appreciate a concise, cohesive album with lots of bonus material.

exactly.

and so much more often than not, less is more. so having 16 tracks seems pretty crazy to me.

One of my favorite albums ever (Stripped) is pretty long, so it can be done, but yeah usually I just think that they can't edit it down and all the filler ends up being embarrassing. Should be released as bonus tracks later on. The songs still get released and the fans feel like they're getting a treat.

Britney Spears comes to mind. Her albums always clock in under an hour and her bonus tracks are usually great. They get released/leaked randomly throughout the year and fans freak out. I have 200 of her songs on my iTunes and half of them are probably bonus/unreleased tracks. Artists need to learn that just because they like the song, it may not go with the "feel" of the album. tl;dr, take queues from the queen of pop.

I never mind long albums from artists I truly love. Didn't she have like 35 songs for this album?
The most curious thing is that "Begin Again" is the closing track.

Begin again with your faith in love (as she said this album is about a rise and a fall of a relationship). begin again listening to it....

Seems fitting to me.

I'm pretty okay with the length. Surprised to see that, of the tracks released so far, only Red is among the first seven.
