My Thriller comparison based on:
A retardedly successful follow up to a very promising/surprising debut. Uber-pop. 75% of the album being hit singles. A little something for everyone.
Love Pet Sounds though.
Actually, when you phrase it that way, Thriller
is much more apropos. Pet Sounds
was initially unsuccessful, wasn't received well by long time fans, and people didn't understand it's fantastic nature until years after the fact. Also, MJ was an idol, more comparative to Taylor than Brian Wilson is, that's for sure, haha.
Though I firmly believe that if you can listen to Pet Sounds
and find nothing you like about it, you probably hate music. After many more listens this past year, it's pushing Revolver
for my favorite album of all time.
