The Running List - 10.04.10
|The following is a mini interview of generic questions that we posed to all bands that wanted to answer:|
The Running List - (questions answered by Tim Coleman)
1. How did you get your band name?
One day we were just throwing around ideas and one of the guys said
"well here's the running list of names we have" and we just kind of
2. How did this band get started?
Basically, Zach contacted me about starting a band, we started working
on it, I had some family trouble and had to leave, they found a
replacement, he quit, and shazam, I'm back again!
3. What bands are you influenced by?
Pantera, Cannibal Corpse, Iron Maiden, Slayer, NWA, Anything on Death
Row Records, Agnostic Front, H2O, The Cro-mags, Sick of It All,
Madball. Basically, anything fast, anything heavy, anything NYHC. I
don't listen to music that sounds like us at all.
4. If you could tour with any bands, past or present, who would they be and why?
Pantera or Cannibal Corpse - Pantera has been my favorite band since I
was like 5; I would give anything to have been able to share the stage
with Dimebag Darrell. Cannibal Corpse has been my other favorite band
for like 10-15 years now. I know we wouldn't make any sense to play
with either of those bands but, fuck it, diversity makes the world go
5. If you were a furry, what animal would you be? Why that animal?
A bear - I'm fat and hairy, that's about all.
6. Why should people listen to your band?
I'm not really sure. I assume there are a million bands out there that sound
like us. I wouldn't know, like I said before, I don't listen
to our style of music. We're going to start doing random covers of
really awesome and not so awesome metal songs, so maybe that would be a
good reason. It might be funny to see us cover Cannibal Corpse or
Slayer. It might be even funnier to watch us cover Limp Bizkit or
Linkin Park ;)
7. If you were chosen to be in Guitar Hero/Rock Band, what song would
you want in the game? How hard do you think it would be to five-star
(looks at myspace to see a list of song titles)
"A Change of Pace". It probably wouldn't be too hard. I'm friends with
Kevin from Whitechapel; he can't play their song on Rockband on expert
and he wrote the damn song. He's a drummer and I play bass, so I'd
probably have it much easier.
8. If you won a Grammy, who would you thank?
My mom, my girlfriend, my best friend, everyone who thinks that we
don't suck, and everyone who has helped us out.
9. If you could change something about the music industry, what would it be?
Everything. The music business is filled with crooks. I've been a
promoter in our area for about 7 years now and I've never had one band
talk about how their label treated them well. Instead, it's always something
about how they're 100k+ in debt and they're sleeping on stranger's
floors and they have been for 5 years or some shit like that.
Basically, my friend Joseph - he played bass in Far-Less for 5 or 6
years said it best when he left the band, I'm not going to quote him,
but you can read what he said here:
10. Memorable tour experience?
Every tour has memorable experiences. Whether it's not eating for a
couple of days or meeting cool people or breaking down and getting
help from strangers. It's definitely a character building experience,
at least on our level. I think that every band that "makes it" has had
to go through the bullshit that 99% of all bands go through. The ones
who survive starvation/lack of sleep/freezing on the side of the
interstate/etc. are the ones who ultimately go far.
11. What is your favorite song to play?
Most of our songs are fun, so it just depends on my mood. We should start
doing Cro-Mags covers so I'll have an answer for this question.
12. What is your vacation spot of choice?
I go to Myrtle Beach, SC with my family every year. Always have,
always will. It feels like home.
13. What music reminds you of your childhood?
Pantera, NWA, Dr. Dre - The Chronic 2001, Limp Bizkit, Korn, and all
of those Nu metal bands, I was a nu metal kid from 6th-8th grade
14. If you could have any super power, what would it be? Why?
I'd be able to fly. We'd have a cool fucking stage show if I did that.
15. Do you feel that your band has "made it"?
No. I think it's impossible to "make it" with the state of the music industry. I don't have a problem with music being downloaded and actually want everyone to download our stuff. Music was made to be heard, not to be sold. Hopefully things will change, but for now, us underdogs will keep working our asses off to do what we love. If a label signs us, cool, if not, cool. I'm doing this either way.
16. What is something that most fans don't know about you?
I've never played in a band that wasn't metal until now. I'm listed on
Encyclopaedia Metallum (the encyclopedia of metal) because I was in a
brutal death metal band named Human Excoriation.
17. What's your favorite holiday?
I don't really do holidays.
18. What do you like to do in your spare time?
I play with my dog (his name is Corpsegrinder,) I hang out with my
girlfriend, I play some video games, I headbang, I drink beer, I learn
about religion, politics, and conspiracy theories. That's about all
19. What kind of hidden talents do you have?
You really don't want me to answer this question.
