|Via Audio - Via Audio|
Released May 11th, 2004
Kill. Normal. Records
Northeastern based indie-pop quartet, Via Audio, establish their experimentally-sweet roots with six tracks under one debut EP. For fans with a sweet tooth for Rilo Kiley and Rocking Horse Winner.
How Is It?
Sweet enough for fans of Architecture in Helsinki’s sans-cute songs (“Like a Call”) yet mature enough for Death Cab tee-wearing listeners to find something they like in Via Audio’s 2004 self-titled release. Singer Jessica Martin and drummer/singer Dan Molad are both respectable vocalists in their own right. Songs like “Developing Active People” find them harmonizing, really moving the song in a way that a solo vocalist could not. Though Dan and Jessica alternate leads on the vox to quite an impressive degree, the real treat is in the stirring instrumentation, such as the swimming solo and steady, yet fractured drumming in “Mouth Shut”. Though the outro track "The Perfect Fix" is wholly lackluster, the EP as a whole is pleasantly low-key indie-pop; perfect for those who need a bit more edge while still keeping it relatively cute.

See this is the kind of record that should get a once over. It's a good record but they haven't done too much yet and aren't any kind of bigger label.
