San Diego band recognized as playing a fairly accessible variety of "doom metal". Fronted by indie-rock legend Rob Crow (Heavy Vegetable, Pinback, Physics), Goblin Cock comes off less of a joke band, as the album cover and band name would suggest, and more of a full-fledged drone-rock outfit.
How Is It?
Bagged and Boarded is surprisingly watertight, despite my initial distaste after pulling the album out of my mailbox. Songs like "Green Machine" and "Snuffy" almost make me wish Goblin Cock was called something different so I could share the album with friends without any hesitation. This is truly a back-catalogued release, but worth checking out if you're mildly interested in Rob Crow's more off-base projects or have an affinity for thoroughly-distorted-drone-rock.
