AP.net Interview: Funeral For A Friend

Posted by: PeeDster (03/04/11)
Our interview with Funeral For A Friend can be found here.
From the InterviewThere was an energy and sense of emergency that perhaps was lacking from the previous two efforts, Tales... and Memory..., as a band we really wanted this record to be more direct and in your face

always unimpressed with bands that immediately disregard aspects of their earlier works to push a new release

Assume he means saying about Memory and Tales. Whereas I actually think those two albums are pretty darn good as they are, I can kind of see what he means, but the guy in the interview wasn't a member of the band then, and I guess with the lineup changes they then feel kind of like a new band again, so it's not such a big thing to switch the style.

Yeah, sure. They've not disregarded the releases though. Tales was a project and was never going to be their new sound. Memories lacked directness and urgency, like Gav in the band says. Good album though, that one.

The last 2 albums have been their weakest imo. Not bad albums, but I respect the band acknowledging that they weren't their best.
