True, but I feel like the blog scene is more necessary in that scene. AP.net, purevolume, and several others sites do a great job of including the up and coming among a large group of readers. Because of this most of the Absolutepunk influenced, yet independent blogs generally don't introduce new artists. The indie rock scene on the other hand sets out to find untapped artists, who aren't signed and record on their own. Some of the sites I listed are somewhat AP user friendly (if they are open to more than hardcore and pop punk). For example MFR and Brooklyn Vegan at times cover some of the more basic indie rock stuff that comes through this site, like Iron & Wine and Tokyo Police Club.
